Best Game of the Season

Nov. 6  at Michigan 67 … Illinois 65 3OT
In a game with 1,237 yards of total offense, it was a defensive stop that finally ended the fun. In the third overtime, Illinois QB Nathan Scheelhaase was harassed and had to throw a desperation pass that went nowhere on a two-point conversion to finally give Michigan the win. Neither defense could come up with a stop as Scheelhaase threw three touchdown passes including a 25-yarder to Mikel Leshoure in the first overtime and a 27-yarder on the exact same wheel route early in the fourth. Leshoure scored five times on the day including a three-yarder in the third overtime before the ill-fated two-point conversion attempt. Michigan was unstoppable as Denard Robinson threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns before being replaced by Tate Forcier, who threw two touchdown passes including a nine-yarder to Darryl Stonum with under two minutes to play to force overtime. The Michigan receivers were terrific as Roy Roundtree caught nine passes for 246 yards and two scores, and Junior Hemingway caught six passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns highlighted by a shifty 45 yarder in the second as part of a 31-31 first half. Michigan put up 676 yards of total offense, but it turned the ball over five times.
