It's finally time for Auburn and Oregon to get on the field and get it all going. Will it be the shootout everyone is hoping for? Will Auburn be able to keep up with the Duck tempo? Pregame

- Deranged politicized assassins, "Papers, Please," cut off funding for people in desperate need of organ transplants ... helloooooo, Arizona!

- Sort of makes the Cam Newton fiasco look even more ridiculous.

- I'm a firm believer in keeping church, state, and sports separate, but if Congress is shutting down after the tragedy, it sort of makes playing a football game up the road from where it all happened seem a tad crass.

- What chance does Oregon have? It's going against the Teflon quarterback. Several weeks after all the hubbub and Auburn has already gotten its big break getting No. 2 on the field.

- I truly don't think there was anything wrong with Newton sitting courtside for the Lakers-Suns game, while the rest of his team was sitting in the upper deck, and I believe that Charles Barkley didn't have anything to do with the sweet seat, which would've been an NCAA violation, but still ... Cam shouldn't have been doing anything, anything, that came within 100 miles of appearing inappropriate in any way. Not when he was so close to being on the train out of town and off to Carolina.

- Teflon.

- I hope someone, somewhere is recording this game so there's some record of it occurring, unlike the USC win over Oklahoma in the 2005 Orange Bowl.

- Teflon.

- Someone, somewhere is recording this game but has to leave for something unavoidable. He'll get in his car and will do everything possible not to hear a score or get any updates, and then he won't be able to resist and will turn on the radio. Four minutes into hearing Jon Gruden, our hero will suffer an unfortunate demise after giving in to his overwhelming desire to drive his car into a something solid.

- Look, Oregon fans, I'm not anti-Ducks and I'm certainly not anti-Pac 10. But the conference was awful this year outside of the top teams and I defy you or anyone else to give me a case of a team, any team, that lives and dies on running wide that can do it against a national title level SEC team. It just doesn't make sense. Oregon might be fast, but it's going to try to run to the outside on a consistent basis against a team with veteran linebackers that have had a month to prepare.

- But the windsock is fully prepared to reverse field in a big hurry if Auburn defensive tackles Nick Fairley and Zach Clayton are barfing after the second drive.

- The College GameDay pregame show with Urban Meyer and Nick Saban was pregame at its best. Meyer is fantastic at describing why the spread attacks work like they do.

- The biggest upset of the night already occurred when Meyer and Saban were able to fit their heads in the stadium at the same time.

- And there it is. There was no way Meyer could get through a segment without saying the word Tebow.

- These aren't the two most talented teams by a long shot, but the players fit the respective systems.

- If you're going to watch the BCS Championship game because you saw an ad that just came on 90 minutes before the game, you're probably not reading this.

- You're probably watching The Bachelor, which is apparently more important than the biggest college football game of the season.

- You know somewhere in Alabama, with all the snow, some Tiger fan who has been waiting his entire life for this moment is blowing a gasket because snow is clogging up his satellite signal.

- There's no truth to the rumor that Auburn is now UA, for Under Armour.

- The Nike Ducks vs. the Under Armour Tigers. Kind of makes $180,000 sound like chump change for what Teflon is bringing to the table tonight.

- Seriously, how much money has the NCAA, ESPN, Under Armour, Gene Chizik, the SEC, and the University of Auburn made off of Teflon? You can't give me a reasonable or rational argument that Newton, or any college player, shouldn't be able to get whatever anyone wants to offer them.

- Did the conductor of God Bless America just give the O sign at the end? God might be able to bless America, but he doesn't have a prayer of keeping Teflon under wraps.

- People, we did this before when it comes to high-octane offenses in BCS Championships. Oklahoma? Two years ago? How quickly they forget.

- Don't get me wrong, though. I desperately want to see this Duck attack blow up to make this a classic.

- Happy national title night, all. It's going to be a long eight months.
