1. Florida
2010 CFN Final Ranking: 34
2010 Record: 8-5
2010 CFN Preseason Rank: 4
CFN 2010 Preseason Prediction: 10-2
2009 Final Ranking: 2
2008 Final Ranking: 1

Urban Meyer might have been an all-time head coaching great, but now with offensive coordinator Charlie Weis in place, the offense should be able to wing it all over the yard with John Brantley finally able to showcase what he can do. Now the receivers have to produce and have to start hanging on to the ball. Meyer loaded up with so much young talent that new head coach Will Muschamp should work wonders with a defense that got a huge break with Janoris Jenkins coming back at corner, when he should be in the NFL. The loss of punter Chas Henry will hurt, but PK Caleb Sturgis and returner Chris Rainey should make the special teams shine.

2. South Carolina
2010 CFN Final Ranking: 27
2010 Record: 9-5
2010 CFN Preseason Rank: 39
CFN 2010 Preseason Prediction: 7-5
2009 Final Ranking: 52
2008 Final Ranking: 61

Was 2010 a jumping off point or a destination. Certain to be the pick by most to win the East, the Gamecocks are loaded with eight starters back on offense including QB Stephen Garcia, RB Marcus Lattimore, and WR Alshon Jeffery. The defense has some key replacements to make on the front seven, but the secondary returns intact, with the hope for experience to turn into production. The kicking game will need work after Spencer Lanning, who's done, handled all the punting and placekicking duties.

3. Georgia
2010 CFN Final Ranking: 69
2010 Record: 6-7
2010 CFN Preseason Rank: 3
CFN 2010 Preseason Prediction: 10-2
2009 Final Ranking: 30
2008 Final Ranking: 14

Let's try this again. Georgia had the experience and the talent to be a factor last year, but it couldn't do anything in the horrendous SEC East. WR A.J. Green is gone, but OT Trinton Sturdivant is back to lead a strong offensive line that should keep QB Aaron Murray upright and should pave the way for a loaded group of running backs. The defense loses pass rushing terror Justin Houston, but the entire secondary is back. The kicking game should be the best in the nation with punter Drew Butler and PK Blair Walsh back.

4. Tennessee
2010 CFN Final Ranking: 72
2010 Record: 6-7
2010 CFN Preseason Rank: 42
CFN 2010 Preseason Prediction: 6-6
2009 Final Ranking: 39
2008 Final Ranking: 66

There were some positives about 2010, but it also showed how big the talent gap is between the Vols and the top teams. Derek Dooley has a franchise quarterback in Tyler Bray to work around, and the line that played a sophomore and three freshmen last season should be better. Now Bray needs someone to throw to with Gerald Jones, Denarius Moore, and Luke Stocker gone. RB Tauren Poole will carry the ground game. The defense needs a ton of work up front, but the secondary that was full of underclassmen last year should become a strength.

5. Kentucky
2010 CFN Ranking: 70
2010 Record: 6-7
2010 CFN Preseason Rank: 46
CFN 2010 Preseason Prediction: 6-6
2009 Final Ranking: 55
2008 Final Ranking: 57

Joker Phillips gets back eight starters on defense including LB Danny Trevathan, who should've been in the All-America mix last year will get his due this season. The offense, though, will be a work in progress hoping that QB Morgan Newton looks better than he did in the bowl game, while RB Derrick Locke is gone as is do-it-all receiver Randall Cobb, who left early for the NFL. The offensive line gets four starters back.

6. Vanderbilt
2010 CFN Final Ranking: 111
2010 Record: 2-10
2010 CFN Preseason Rank: 64
CFN 2010 Preseason Prediction: 1-11
2009 Final Ranking: 106
2008 Final Ranking: 43

New head coach James Franklin is being a bit cryptic about what his styles will be on both sides of the ball, but he has players to work with. Vandy won't be the best team in the SEC, but it'll be the most experience with 21 starters returning including ten on offense. Can Larry Smith be the type of quarterback who can carry an offense, and will the backs produce behind a veteran line? This will be one of the league's peskiest teams, and it'll come up with a few stunning wins.
