30. Stanford at USC, Oct. 29

Last year’s game sort of flew under the radar, and in all the national Stanford love as the year went on, everyone seemed to forget that the Trojans should’ve won. Now it’s an interdivisional battle, but it’s also the time for Lane Kiffin to show that he can start to win the big battles on a regular basis. The Cardinal has a run of three road games in four weeks with this the lone battle against the South the rest of the way, while the Trojans will be coming off of road games at Cal and Notre Dame and has to go to Colorado the week after.

29. Pitt at West Virginia. Nov. 24

The Backyard Brawl is always big even if the Big Eat title isn’t on the line. This year it’ll be on the line. Will the new Pitt coaching staff be able to come up with a big rivalry win? With a week off to prepare for the big road date, there won’t be any excuse to not be ready. Will the strange coaching situation at West Virginia be settled? The Mountaineers also get a week off to prepare. Pitt finishes up the year against Syracuse while WVU goes to South Florida.

28. Florida at Auburn, Oct. 15

Could this be the death blow for the defending national champs? The Tigers will have already faced Mississippi State to go along with road trips to Clemson, South Carolina, and Arkansas before hosting the Gators. If that wasn’t enough, a road date at LSU comes the week after. On the flip side, could this be an early must win for the Will Muschamp era? With Alabama and a trip to LSU in the previous two weeks, the new coaching staff will be tested.

27. Texas at Texas A&M, Nov. 26

The Aggies have won three of the last five games in the series including a bowl-dream-ending victory last year in Austin. As always, it’s happening Thanksgiving weekend and it’s the last game on the Big 12 slate, so with no title game, this might take on an even greater meaning than normal. Will this decide the conference title and/or a BCS slot in some way? Both teams certainly hope so.

26. North Carolina at Virginia Tech, Nov. 17

The Tar Heels have been a rough 1-6 against in the key Coastal matchup since the Hokies joined the ACC. Both teams are rebuilding, but they should each be in the hunt for the division title all season long. UNC gets a nice off week to rest up and prepare, and with Duke to close out, a win here might seal the title. The Hokies have to face the Georgia Tech offense the week before, but this is the home finale and Senior Day.

25. TCU at Air Force, Sept. 10

Don’t sleep on just how big this game should be for the Mountain West race as well as for the national title chace. The Horned Frogs are 7-1 against the Falcons going back to 1987, but this should be the best Air Force team in years and it’s good enough to come up with what might be a program-changing victory. TCU will need a little bit of time to get all the pieces back in place in what could be a rebuilding year, and it’ll have just one week, at Baylor, before dealing with the Falcon attack. Air Force gets to practice up against South Dakota.

24. Oklahoma State at Texas, Oct. 15

Death, taxes, and Oklahoma State losing to Texas in soul-crippling fashion. There were few things you could count on in the world, and last year the Cowboys finally broke through an ugly 13-game losing streak with a 33-16 win in Austin. Now it’s not a Big 12 South battle, but it’ll have a major impact on the conference title chase with the Longhorns needing to prove they can keep up with the high-powered Cowboy attack. OSU gets two weeks off, an open date and Kansas, to get ready for the showdown, while Texas will spend the previous week in Dallas facing Oklahoma.

23. Nebraska at Michigan, Nov. 19

The two teams played a thrilling 2005 Alamo Bowl with Michigan almost pulling off the Cal Band Play in a 32-28 Husker win. The previous matchup came in 1962 with Nebraska winning 25-13. Michigan State should be solid and Iowa will have something to say in the matter, but when all is said and done, this might be for the Legends title. The Huskers will be coming off a big game at Penn State – but they’re all big games this year for the Big Red – while the Wolverines will be coming home after going to Iowa and Illinois, while trying not to look ahead to Ohio State.

22. Florida vs. Georgia, Oct. 29

It’s the Cocktail Party no matter what anyone else wants to say, and it should be a big moment in the SEC East coaching world. Can Mark Richt survive with another loss to the Gators, which might assure another year without a division title? How much will the pressure be ramped up for Will Muschamp if he loses his first game against Georgia? Both teams get a week off to prepare, but Georgia will be coming off a layup at Vanderbilt while Florida will face Alabama, at LSU, and at Auburn before the off week.

21. Auburn at Arkansas, Oct. 8

The two teams played one of the wildest shootouts of the 2010 season, with Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson getting thrown into the fire after Ryan Mallett got hurt. Now Wilson should have the gig all to himself and Arkansas should be loaded and ready to make a big splash in the West. After starting the SEC season at Alabama, the Hogs might need this win, while The Tigers will be coming off a date at South Carolina and has to face Florida the week after with a date at LSU to follow.
