Note: This isn't a ranking of the top pro prospects. This is
based on the seasons we think the players are going to have.
CFN 2011 FIRST TEAM PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN
1. Damaris Johnson, Sr. Tulsa
Johnson gives Tulsa one of the most dangerous return men in the country. An All-American and the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Year in 2010, he’s a long-ball threat every time he’s on the field, scoring at least one special teams touchdown in each of the last three years.
CFN 2011 SECOND TEAM PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN
2. Eric Page, Jr. Toledo
Page, a devastating receiver, was the nation’s third-leading kickoff returner averaging 31.11 yards per try, but he struggled on punt returns averaging just 3.79 yards per attempt.
CFN 2011 HONORABLE MENTION PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN
3. Quincy McDuffie, Jr. UCF
McDuffie is coming off a dominating year, finishing second in the nation averaging 32.2 yards per try and scoring twice.
BEST OF THE REST
4. Nick Williams, Jr. Connecticut
The Huskies took three kickoffs back for touchdowns in 2010, with two from Williams. An All-Big East selection, he led the nation with an average of more than 35 yards a chance.
5. T.Y. Hilton, Sr. FIU
Hilton is deadly with the ball in his hands, and he showed why averaging 28.7 yards per kickoff return with scores against ULM and a killer against Toledo in the bowl win. Also a strong punt returner, he averaged 6.3 yards per try.
6. Kerwynn Williams, Jr. Utah State
The kickoff return game was the best in the WAC and should be among the best in the country again with Williams, now a receiver, back after averaging 27.2 yards per try. He’ll also see time as a punt returner averaging 9.2 yards on his four tries.
7. Robert Woods, Soph. USC
Woods, the team’s star flanker, was brilliant in his debut, averaging more than 25 yards per return, taking one back 97 yards and earning a spot on the All-Pac-10 first team. He has terrific straight line speed.
8. Brelan Chancellor, Soph. North Texas
Chancellor is a special kickoff returner averaging 28 yards per try with two touchdowns. It would be a bid help if he could improve the woeful UNT punt return game.
9. Coryell Judie, Sr. Texas A&M
Judie, a corner, was one of the nation’s top kickoff returners averaging 30.2 yards per try with two scores. He’s electrifying whenever he has the ball in his hands, lighting up both Oklahoma and Baylor.
10. Andre Debose, Soph. Florida
Debose didn’t do much as a wide receiver, but he was a whale of a kickoff returner averaging 28 yards per try with two scores including a key play against LSU and a touchdown against South Carolina.
