Armed Forces Bowl
BYU 24 … Tulsa 21


Riley Nelson’s fake spike and two-yard touchdown pass to Cody Hoffman with 11 seconds to play gave BYU a thrilling win. It was a back-and-forth battle throughout, and while Tulsa didn’t get its normal big plays, it only committed one penalty and it got three G.J. Kinne touchdown passes on the way to a late lead. Hoffman finished with three touchdown catches with a 17-yarder with 12 seconds left to play in the first half and a 30-yarder late in the third quarter.

Di Luigi ran ten times for 38 yards. … Cody Hoffman caught eight passes for 122 yards and three scores. …. Punter Riley Stephenson averaged 41.9 yards per kick putting seven of eight inside the 20. … LB Kyle Van Noy made ten tackles, two sacks, five tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

Tulsa: The Golden Hurricane ran for 37 yards. … G.J. Kinne completed 17-of-31 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns … Trey Watts ran ten times for 38 yards. … Bryan Burnham caught four passes for 113 yards and a score. … Curnelius Arnick made 17 tackles, a sack, and two tackles for loss. … Shawn Jackson made nine tackles with three tackles for loss.

Purdue 37 … Western Michigan 32

For a minor bowl game between two also-ran teams, it had a lot of fun, exciting, and strange twists and turns. There were 11 turnovers, with Western Michigan responsible for seven of them, and Purdue committed nine penalties, but it was a wild shootout with both teams throwing haymakers. The Broncos represented the MAC well, helped by 265 receiving yards from Jordan White, but the defense couldn’t stop the Purdue running game. Akeem Shavers ripped off 149 of the Boilermakers’ 265 rushing yards to overcome the 439 passing yards from WMU’s Alex Carder.

Toledo 42 … Air Force 41


Air Force could’ve taken the game to overtime after getting a 33-yard touchdown catch from Zack Kauth in the final minute, but a failed option play on a fake extra point attempt gave the Rockets the win in a wild and fun back-and-forth shootout. Each team had no problems moving up and down the field, but it was an 87-yard kickoff return from Eric Page and a pick-six from Jermaine Robinson that helped Toledo keep up the pace after blowing a 21-7 first quarter lead.
