Navy
How was Navy going to go on without Alexander Teich at fullback? Noah Copeland showed in the spring game that he could handle the workload running nine times for 66 yards as the focal point of the attack. He’s not a big bruiser at just 5-10 and 205 pounds, but he’s quick through the hole and tough between the tackles. QB Trey Miller is running the offense, and he’s the typical Midshipman scooter scoring twice, but he also threw a bit completing 7-of-9 throws for 104 yards.
Louisiana Tech
Bombs away. This is the Sonny Dykes offense everyone has been waiting for with the attack putting up huge yards and lots and lots of big plays highlighted by Tulane WR transfer D.J. Banks, who caught four passes for 102 yards. QB Zach Griffith connected on 38-of-44 passes for 419 yards and three scores, while incumbent starter Colby Cameron completed 20-of-27 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns with a pick. However, Cameron was better at getting the ball out of his hands in a hurry.
San Jose State
QB David Fales has been one of the rising stars of the spring, and even though the conditions were less than ideal on Friday he showed he’s going to give Dasmen Stewart and Blake Jurich a fight for the job. Fales connected on 16-of-23 passes for 193 yards and a score, while Jurich and Stewart each struggled combining to complete just 15-of-31 passes for 187 yards and two picks. Fales, a JUCO transfer, appears to have a lead going into the summer.
