We paid attention to the spring scrimmages so you
didn't have to. Here's what you need to know from
the big spring games this weekend.
Arizona
The offense was the story in Rich Rodriguez’s first game in Tucson. The ‘Cats rolled up 597 total yards and 10 touchdowns, with four of the scores coming off the right arm of starting QB Matt Scott.
Stanford
The defense remained ahead of the offense, as the Cardinal continued its protracted search for Andrew Luck’s successor. Stanford’s linebackers were as good as advertised, as Trent Murphy and Alex Debniak both notched a pair of sacks.
Colorado
Just days after losing star WR Paul Richardson to a season-ending injury, the Buffs passing attack got a lift from QB Connor Wood. The high-profile Texas transfer was crisp in limited work, completing 7-of-10 passes for 137 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
USC
Well-traveled Aundrey Walker, who’s played some guard, started the spring at right tackle, but ended it on the left side. Based on his play during practice and in Saturday’s scrimmage, he could be protecting Matt Barkley’s blindside in the fall.
