Here’s The Deal: Miami got ripped apart by Braxton Miller and a charged up Ohio State team in Urban Meyer’s debut, but the RedHawks aren’t quite as bad as they might have appeared. Now they need to prove it against a bad Southern Illinois squad that got lit up by Eastern Illinois in a 49-28 loss, struggling in the secondary and having problems with turnovers. MU has to get everything in place with a trip to Boise State up next, while this is SIU’s only game against an FBS team.

Why Southern Illinois Might Win: The passing attack could keep up the pace. The Salukis had to keep throwing to try to keep up the pace with EIU, but Kory Faulkner showed he could put up big numbers for an offense that cranked up 304 yards through the air. Miami’s secondary wasn’t tested much last week by the Buckeyes, but it will be under fire this week.

Why Miami University Might Win: Zac Dysert should be in for a huge day. The veteran RedHawk quarterback wasn’t able to come up with many points, but he threw for 303 yards with a score trying to keep up the pace against OSU. Eastern Illinois put up 433 passing yards in the win last week, and Dysert should be able to dink and dunk his way to a tremendous statistical performance.

What To Watch Out For: MU’s Nick Harwell was the No. 1 target last year making 97 grabs for 1,425 yards and nine touchdowns, and he started out hot making eight grabs for 120 yards and a score against the Buckeyes. He and Dysert should connect at least ten times, and after giving up seven touchdown passes, the Saluki secondary could be in for another rough day from one of the MAC’s best receivers.

What Will Happen: Miami will come up with over 400 yards through the air, and while the defense won’t be a rock, it will come up with just enough stops to let Dysert dominate
