Week 2 CFN Fearless Prediction – Texas A&M-Commerce at UTSA

- CFN Fearless Predictions

Texas A&M-Commerce (0-1) at UTSA (1-0) Sept. 8, 2:00

Here’s The Deal: Texas A&M-Commerce is playing an FBS team for the first time in its history, while UTSA will be looking to build on a thrilling opening week. While A&M continues to struggle under former Baylor and Kentucky head coach Guy Morriss, losing to SE Oklahoma 31-6, the Roadrunners of UTSA came through late to beat South Alabama 33-31. If UTSA can get by this week – and it should, it will be smooth sailing with Georgia State and NW Oklahoma up next.

Why Texas A&M-Commerce Might Win: UTSA outplayed South Alabama and still had a hard time coming away with the win. The Roadrunners committed 11 penalties, converted just two of 12 third down chances, and turned the ball over twice. Commerce will need a slew of huge mistakes and will have to get the running game going to have any shot of keeping it close.

Why UTSA Might Win: Texas A&M-Commerce is bad at playing football. The Lions only came up with 185 yards of total offense and was unable to move the ball a lick on the ground. The secondary was lit up by the SE Oklahoma passing game and should have more big issues against UTSA and …

What To Watch Out For: quarterback Eric Soza. He could stand to be a little more accurate after completing 18-of-30 passes last week, and he only ran for 10 yards, but he came up with plenty of deep plays finishing with 215 yards and three scores with a pick. He should be able to spread the ball around well once again.

What Will Happen: Texas A&M-Commerce isn’t even an FCS team – it’s Division II. UTSA will kick off its home schedule with an easy blowout.

CFN Prediction: UTSA 55 … Texas A&M-Commerce 10
