- VIRGINIA TECH vs. PITTSBURGH: Pittsburgh has been absolutely terrible this year, but would anybody be surprised if Virginia Tech showed up and didn't put on its best dress? This is exactly the type of game that has bit the Hokies in the derriere in past seasons. If this is going to be a special year, Frank Beamer better have his kids focused on the now, and not five weeks down the line against Clemson.

- TCU vs. KANSAS: Welcome to the Big Twelve TCU. The conference suits did you a favor and provided a wet paper towel for your first opponent. Don't let the Jayhawks go Brawny on you.

-The BIG TEN: In this week's proof that the Mayan calendar might have some truth to it, the Big Ten has been turned upside down. Ohio State might be the best team in the Leaders division, but it's only allowed to drive its date to the dance in a rusted out pinto--then watch. Northwestern is the only conference team that can boast about beating two BCS schools, and both Minnesota and Indiana are undefeated with a legitimate shot at going 3-0 after this week. Do yourself a favor and find a nice stretch of beach to lounge on come December 21, because signs are appearing. You might as well go out in style.

- ULM VS. AUBURN: Auburn, you're on the clock. The University of Louisiana-Monroe is looking to go 2-0 against the SEC West and the Tigers aren't making anyone believe this won't be close. If we witness a second straight shocker, ULM to the Big Ten might become a movement. Why not?

- TENNESSEE TECH VS. OREGON: This game won't be a public flogging only because the game will be harder to find than Bigfoot. Its placement on the Pac-12 Network makes it a rare species to locate. Like many myths, the video of this game will probably be grainy and distorted so nobody will believe it happened.

- ALABAMA VS. ARKANSAS: This game has fallen off the radar faster than a UFO sighting. John L. Smith's time at the helm may be heading in the same direction with an embarrassing loss.

- IOWA VS NORTHERN IOWA: Keep an eye on this game. The Panthers nearly upset the Hawkeyes in 2009, and we all know how close things were in Madison in week one. Iowa is not going to blow anyone out these days, so....

- FLORIDA VS. TENNESSEE: For the first time since 2007, both teams will be ranked in the top 25 heading into their matchup. It's tough to know just how good each team really is entering the game, and it still might be hard to know just how good each is after the game. The winner gets a little bit of a boost in the race for the SEC East though.

- UNDERRATED: Arizona State at Missouri. OVERRATED: See above.

- NOTRE DAME VS. MICHIGAN STATE: Can Sparty stay in the conversation for really big things? Can Notre Dame FINALLY become relevant again? Call this a perception elimination game.

- NOTRE DAME VS. MICHIGAN STATE PART 2: One mascot wears a kilt, the other a warrior skirt of some sort. Advantage kilt...it has the odd, yet somewhat intriguing factor going for it.

- USC VS. STANFORD: If USC is really national title material, they go up and take care of business easily in Palo Alto. Revenge plus talent...

- UTAH STATE VS. WISCONSIN: Just plain interesting on many levels. What with the new offensive-line coach, struggling offense, salty head-coach bit after the Badgers struggles the first two weeks...

- LAMAR VS. HAWAII: The only game where more tourists will be watching than fans of both programs. Count me in--if only.

- NAVY VS. PENN STATE: Third time's a charm for the Nittany Lions?
