Week 7 Fearless Predictions - Western Kentucky at Troy

Western Kentucky (4-1) at Troy (3-2) Oct. 11, 7:30, ESPNU

Here’s The Deal: This needs to be when Western Kentucky shows just how good it can be. With a strong 26-13 win over Arkansas State, the Hilltoppers proved they’re ready to be the star of an improved Sun Belt, and with a win over Kentucky and the lone loss coming to Alabama, they have been terrific so far. The ULM game is coming up next week in what could amount to the Sun Belt championship game, but first the team can’t look past a dangerous Troy squad coming off of conference road wins against North Texas and South Alabama.

The Trojans have their passing game working, but unlike previous seasons the air show isn’t coming just to make up for the problems on defense. The pass rush isn’t working, and turnover margin has been a major problem, but at 2-1 in conference play and with winnable games against FIU and Florida Atlantic up next, there’s a chance to make a big move with the upset win.

What Will Happen: With Kawaun Jakes back under center after missing last week’s win with a knee injury, the WKU offense will be even stronger, but it’ll be the Sun Belt’s No. 1 defense that pulls out the win by getting to Corey Robinson on a regular basis and not allowing a thing on the ground.

CFN Prediction: Western Kentucky 24 … Troy 14
