Week 7 Fearless Predictions & Game Preview - Kent State at Army

Kent State (4-1) at Army (1-4) Oct. 13, 12:00, CBS

Here’s The Deal: Is Army is going to come up with any sort of a decent season, it has to start right now to capitalize on the shocking win over Boston College. The Knights have several winnable games ahead as they continue to dive into the MAC portion of the schedule with three straight games against the league, and this should be the toughest on the lot. With this as part of a run of five home games in six, there’s still time, but the nation’s worst pass efficiency defense has been picked clean and the ground game hasn’t been strong enough to overcome the problems on the other side.

Kent State has been one of the season’s most pleasant surprises with a terrific 4-1 start with the lone loss coming to Kentucky. 3-0 in MAC play so far with dominant wins over buffalo and Eastern Michigan and a nice victory over Ball State, the Golden Flashes have been tight on turnover margin, brilliant at times in the return game, and great with the ground game. The key against Army should be a run defense that’s the best in the MAC allowing just 626 yards on the year. With showdowns against Western Michigan and Rutgers up next, KSU could use a win now to keep the momentum going.

What Will Happen: The Kent State defensive front will control the game from the start. There isn’t enough of a Golden Flash short passing game to take advantage of the horrendous Army secondary and pass defense, but Trayion Durham and Dri Archer will do enough on the ground to come up with a good, solid win. Army will turn the ball over four times, and KSU will take advantage of all of them.

CFN Prediction: Kent State 34 … Army 24
