Week 10 Sun Belt Fearless Predictions & Game Previews

@ColFootballNews

Middle Tennessee (5-3) at Western Kentucky (6-2) Nov. 1, 9:15, ESPNU

Here’s The Deal: With ULM 4-0 in Sun Belt play, and with WKU losing to the Warhawks two weeks ago in an overtime thriller and Middle Tennessee losing to them 31-17, this is effectively an elimination game. The Blue Raiders have a terrific offense that’s been consistent and effective in Sun Belt play, while the Hilltoppers lead the league in almost every top defensive category.

What Will Happen: The D beats the O. The WKU offense isn’t all that bad, but the pass rush is what’s carrying the team with the ability to get into the backfield on a regular basis to balance out an attack with an efficient passing attack and nice ground game. Middle Tennessee doesn’t have the defense to hold up.

CFN Prediction: Western Kentucky 34 … Middle Tennessee 23
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) WKU -9 O/U: 54
Must Watch Rating (5 – The Man With The Iron Fists, 1 – Election coverage until Tuesday morning): 2.5

Florida International (1-8) at South Alabama (2-6) Nov. 3, 3:30

What Will Happen: South Alabama came off the overtime win over Florida Atlantic to push ULM, but can the team get over the hump and beat a struggling FIU? The Golden Panther defense has been awful in close loss after close loss, and even though it’ll clamp down a bit on the bad Jaguar offense, it won’t be enough. FIU is making way too many mistakes.

CFN Prediction: South Alabama 28 … FIU 24

Must Watch Rating (5 – The Man With The Iron Fists, 1 – Election coverage until Tuesday morning): 1.5

Florida Atlantic (2-6) at Navy (5-3) Nov. 3, 3:30, CBS Sports Network

What Will Happen: Break up the Owls. After an ugly six game losing streak, FAU came up with a nice win over Troy to potentially turn the season around, but this is where it stops. The run defense doesn’t get into the backfield and the offense doesn’t have enough efficiency or effectiveness to keep the chains moving to put the Navy O on the sidelines. The Midshipmen are on a four-game winning streak with the offense starting to put up points in bunches. Navy is hitting its stride at the right time.

CFN Prediction: Navy 30 … Florida Atlantic 17

Louisiana-Lafayette (4-3) at ULM (6-2) Nov. 3, 4:00, ESPN3

What Will Happen: Can the Ragin’ Cajuns come up with a big rivalry win to slow down the ULM juggernaut? After losing two straight, ULL has all but bowed out of the Sun Belt race, but it can make a little bit of a statement if the offense can keep up the pace. However, the awful pass defense won’t be able to come up with enough key stops against a Warhawk passing game and offense that has managed 31 points or more in every game but the loss to Auburn.

CFN Prediction: ULM 45 … Louisiana-Lafayette 38
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) ULM -10 O/U: 62
Must Watch Rating (5 – The Man With The Iron Fists, 1 – Election coverage until Tuesday morning): 2

Arkansas State (5-3) at North Texas (3-5) Nov. 3, 5:00

What Will Happen: Arkansas State is hanging around the Sun Belt title chase, but it has to get by a tough matchup against a decent North Texas before going to deal with ULM in what might be the conference title game. The Red Wolves have a slew of issues, but the offense is rolling with the ground game dominating, but the Mean Green has a decent run defense and could make this tougher than it appears. UNT should be able to run a bit, but it won’t produce enough to keep up.

CFN Prediction: Arkansas State 40 … North Texas 24
