Week 10 Conference USA Fearless Predictions & Game Previews

Houston (4-4) at East Carolina (5-4) Nov. 3, 12:00

What Will Happen: The East Carolina offense might not be as powerful or dangerous as it’s been in past years, but the passing game has been solid and should blow up against the miserable Houston secondary. The Cougar offense has heated up at the right time with 35 points or more in the last five games with the season turning around, but the team has been awful in true road games – playing Rice on a neutral field doesn’t count.

CFN Prediction: East Carolina 42 … Houston 38

Must Watch Rating (5 – The Man With The Iron Fists, 1 – Election coverage until Tuesday morning): 3.5

Memphis (1-7) at Marshall (3-5) Nov. 3, 2:00

What Will Happen: The Herd can’t seem to find any sort of consistency losing three of the last four games, and now they have to get hot to get into bowl contention. The run defense has been miserable and the defense is giving up the second-most points of anyone, but Memphis has the second-worst offense and won’t be able to take advantage.

CFN Prediction: Marshall 40 … Memphis 17

Must Watch Rating (5 – The Man With The Iron Fists, 1 – Election coverage until Tuesday morning): 2

Rice (3-6) at Tulane (2-6) Nov. 3, 3:30

What Will Happen: The Green Wave are starting to turn things around a bit winning two of their last three games thanks to a passing game that’s making up for a miserable defense. Rice has also won two of its last three games with an offense that’s running as well as any in the conference. The Owl’s biggest problem is stopping the run, but Tulane isn’t pounding away.

CFN Prediction: Rice 34 … Tulane 20

SMU (4-4) at UCF (6-2) Nov. 3, 7:00, CBS Sports Network

What Will Happen: Is this the Conference USA championship preview? SMU has stepped up winning three of its last four games with the offense starting to shine just at the right time. The defense has been a rock against the run, while the points are starting come in bunches after sputtering throughout the first part of the season. UCF is rolling with a four-game winning streak thanks to a defense that’s improving by the week, and now it needs to come up with a win in the home oasis between four road games. The Golden Knight D will outplay the SMU O with a balanced attack keeping control of the game.

CFN Prediction: UCF 31 … SMU 17

Must Watch Rating (5 – The Man With The Iron Fists, 1 – Election coverage until Tuesday morning): 4

UAB (1-7) at Southern Miss (0-8) Nov. 3, 7:30

What Will Happen: Yeah, Southern Miss really is this bad. 0-8 with a pass defense that can’t seem to stop a big play and an passing game that’s going nowhere, it’s going to be in big trouble against a UAB passing game that has gotten red hot and averaging 323 yards per game on the season. The Blazers are going to be in a shootout, but they should keep the rotten USM season spinning down.

CFN Prediction: UAB 48 … Southern Miss 45

Must Watch Rating (5 – The Man With The Iron Fists, 1 – Election coverage until Tuesday morning): 1.5
