CFN Week 11 MAC Fearless Predictions & Game Previews

@ColFootballNews

Ball State (6-3) at Toledo (8-1) Nov. 10, 8:00, ESPN2

Here’s The Deal: For those college football with a passing interest in the future of the United States, there’s a solid alternative with a good MAC game that should go a long way to determining the West race. Ball State is way back in the pack with two losses and a defeat to Northern Illinois, but it can still finish second in the division and potentially solidify a bowl bid with a win. Toledo has the showdown with the Huskies next week, and while it can lose this game and be fine – only needing to beat NIU and Akron to play for the MAC title – a loss would mean an end to being ranked.

What Will Happen: The Rockets might be on an eight-game winning streak, but they’re not exactly blowing teams away with close victories over Eastern Michigan and Buffalo on the road. The pass defense will have problems against Keith Wenning and the solid Cardinal passing game, but the miserable BSU defensive front will get run over by David Fluellen and a Toledo ground attack that should crank out well over 200 yards.

CFN Prediction: Toledo 38 … Ball State 30
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Toledo -6.5 O/U: 69.5
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 3

Bowling Green (6-3) at Ohio (8-1) Nov. 7, 8:00, ESPN2

Here’s The Deal: This isn’t an elimination game in the MAC title chase, but it’s close with each team needing to still play conference-unbeaten Kent State. Ohio’s loss to Miami University hurt, but it didn’t matter too much in the East race, while Bowling Green’s loss came to Toledo from the West. The Bobcat offense is among the best in the MAC, while the Falcon defense leads the conference in yards, points allowed and run defense.

What Will Happen: The Bowling Green run defense has been fantastic, but it hasn’t faced the power like it’s about to be hit with. Can the Falcon offense keep up the pace? The passing game isn’t efficient, and star running back Anthon Samuel has neck issues, so it’s all about whether or not Ohio can score early and hang on. It can.

CFN Prediction: Ohio 24 … Bowling Green 20
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Ohio -3 O/U: 48.5
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 3

Kent State (8-1) at Miami University (4-5) Nov. 10, 1:00, ESPN3

What Will Happen: Kent State has been amazing with one of the greatest years in school history. Unbeaten in MAC play, the Golden Flashes are finding ways to win even though the defense is merely average and the offense is nothing special. How are they doing it? Turnover margin, ranking No. 1 in the country. MU will throw the ball well to keep it close, but KSU will continue to find a way.

CFN Prediction: Kent State 35 … Miami University 23
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Kent State -6.5 O/U: 55
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 3

Central Michigan (3-6) at Eastern Michigan (1-8) Nov. 10, 1:00

What Will Happen: Central Michigan will try to close out strong with a chance to get to six wins and bowl eligibility. The defense might be miserable, ranking last in the nation in tackles for loss, but with a win this week and victories over Miami and UMass to close, the chance is there to finish strong. Eastern Michigan has the second-worse defense in the nation and has a pass rush every big as miserable as CMU’s. The Eagle run D that ranks last in all of college football is about to be lit up - again.

CFN Prediction: Central Michigan 37 … Eastern Michigan 23
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Central Michigan -2.5 O/U: 63
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 1

Massachusetts (0-9) at Akron (1-9) Nov. 10, ESPN3

What Will Happen: Something has to give. Arguably the two worst teams in college football, finally, someone will win a game against an FBS team. Akron’s passing game has been able to offset a slew of major problems, mostly including the disastrous run defense. Fortunately for the Zips, UMass has no offense whatsoever with just seven points in the last three weeks.

CFN Prediction: Akron 34 … Massachusetts 14
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Akron -17 O/U: 59.5
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 1

Western Michigan (4-6) at Buffalo (2-7) Nov. 10, 3:30

What Will Happen: Still in the hunt for a bowl game, Western Michigan has to beat Buffalo and Eastern Michigan to get to six wins. Will it be enough for an at-large spot? The offense has been solid, especially through the passing game, while Buffalo can’t seem to win the turnover battle enough to come up with tight wins. Breaking a six-game losing streak against Miami University was nice for UB, but the offense won’t be there to keep up the pace this week.

CFN Prediction: Western Michigan 24 … Buffalo 20
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Western Michigan -2.5 O/U: 55.5
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 2
