CFN Week 11 Mountain West Fearless Predictions & Game Previews

@ColFootballNews

Air Force (5-4) at San Diego State (7-3) Nov. 10, 3:30, NBC Sports Network

Here’s The Deal: After shocking the Mountain West with a win at Boise State, San Diego State is on a five-game winning streak to stay in the hunt for the conference title. It’ll take wins over Air Force and Wyoming and a loss from Fresno State to win it outright, but at the very least, the potential is there for a terrific season. Can the great run defense stop the Air Force attack coming off a miserable performance in the loss to Army? The Falcons are still in the conference title chase, too, with no Boise State on the slate and the lone loss coming to UNLV. A win this week and victories over Hawaii and at Fresno State would technically mean an outright title.

What Will Happen: San Diego State’s defensive front will slow down the Falcon ground game while Adam Muema will pound away for 150 yards on the way to another key win.

CFN Prediction: San Diego State 31 … Air Force 17
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) San Diego State -9.5 O/U: 59
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 3

Wyoming (2-7) at New Mexico (4-6) Nov. 10, 3:30

Here’s The Deal: The Lobos were rolling right along before struggling in three straight losses including a 35-7 clunker to UNLV last week. What seemed like a sure-thing bowl bid now might be impossible needing to win the last three games with Nevada and a trip to Colorado State to follow. Wyoming hasn’t had much luck on the year, but it rolled up Colorado State last week to win by 14 in the easy win to break a four-game losing streak. Now it’s spoiler time.

What Will Happen: The Cowboy run defense has been a disaster. The passing game is good enough to keep up the pace, but the problems holding up against the more powerful teams will come up again in a grinding loss to the desperate Lobos.

CFN Prediction: New Mexico 24 … Wyoming 20
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Wyoming -1 O/U: 45
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 2

UNLV (2-8) at Colorado State (2-7) Nov. 10, 7:00

Here’s The Deal: It’s about closing strong for both teams in the midst of disastrous seasons. UNLV came up with a stunning blowout over a New Mexico team that needed the win, but the offense has been decent throughout the year against the mediocre teams. Colorado State is a mediocre team without much offensive pop, however, the team woke up over the last few weeks with a 42-point outburst against Hawaii and a decent showing in a blowout loss to Wyoming.

What Will Happen: Neither team can stop the run and neither one has any semblance of a pass rush, but UNLV has a better, stronger offense that should be able to move the ball just enough to get by with a second straight win.

CFN Prediction: UNLV 31 … Colorado State 24
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) UNLV -2 O/U: 54
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 2

Boise State (7-2) at Hawaii (1-7) Nov. 10, 7:00, NBC Sports Network

Here’s The Deal: Can Boise State come back angry after a clunker against San Diego State>? While the Mountain West title, at least a piece of it, is still on the table, all dreams of sliding into the BCS are gone – can the team rise up and start to play better? If it can’t, it’s not a big deal going against a Hawaii team with no offense and little prayer of moving the ball on the Bronco D.

What Will Happen: Boise State will come back roaring with a blowout win. The Warrior offense will have an impossible time coming up with yards against one of the nation’s best defense against the pass.

CFN Prediction: Boise State 44 … Hawaii 10
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Boise State -29.5 O/U: 52.5
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 1.5

Fresno State (7-3) at Nevada (6-3) Nov. 10, 10:30, NBC Sports Network

Here’s The Deal: After a two-game losing streak, Nevada has all but bowed out of the Mountain West title chase, but it can make things interesting with wins over Fresno State this week and New Mexico and Boise State to close things out. At the very least, a split will be on the table if San Diego State loses again, but first the Wolf Pack have to take care of business themselves after struggling so badly defensively. Can the two weeks off help the cause against a Fresno State team on a three-game winning streak and with conference championship dreams of its own. The offense has been fantastic through the air and the defense owns the best pass rush in the conference. Can the mediocre run defense slow down the rested Pack? It should be an outstanding shootout.

What Will Happen: The Bulldogs have put up 42 points or more in each of the last three games, and things aren’t going to changed this week. Nevada will keep up the pace for a while, but the Fresno State defense will come up with just enough stops late to get out with a tough win.

CFN Prediction: Fresno State 48 … Nevada 41
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Fresno State -3.5 O/U: 68.5
Must Watch Rating (5 – Skyfall, 1 – Wreck It Ralph): 4
