The picks, predictions and game previews for all the Week 12 Sun Belt games

Florida International (2-8) at Florida Atlantic (3-7) Nov. 16, 8:00, ESPNU

What Will Happen: Break up the Owls. FAU overcame a six-game losing streak to win two of its last three games beating Troy and shocking Western Kentucky to make Carl Pelini’s first season better. A win over the local rival would make things even better, and with an improving offense and decent pass defense, it could be possible. The maddeningly disappointing Golden Panthers have finally started to play a little defense, and as long as the turnovers are kept to a minimum, they should be able to come up with a second win in a row before closing out against ULM.

CFN Prediction: Florida International 28 … Florida Atlantic 20
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Florida Atlantic -1.5 O/U: 52
Must Watch Rating (5 – Killing Them Softly, 1 – The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2): 2

Middle Tennessee (6-3) at South Alabama (2-8) Nov. 17, 3:30

What Will Happen: Just when it seemed like the Jaguars were going to take a step forward, they couldn’t seem to come up with any production in key moments losing their last three games making this a desperation moment with two road dates to close. Middle Tennessee has turned things up a few notches winning three of their last four games to get into the Sun Belt title hunt, and if it wins out against USA, Troy and Arkansas State, it’s going to be the champ. Step One will be this week as the solid offense will control the game from the start with a crisp, efficient passing game.

CFN Prediction: Middle Tennessee 38 … South Alabama 20
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Middle Tennessee -9.5 O/U: 56
Must Watch Rating (5 – Killing Them Softly, 1 – The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2): 1.5

Arkansas State (7-3) at Troy (5-5) Nov. 17, 3:30

What Will Happen: Arkansas State is pushing hard for the Sun Belt title with five straight wins after a loss to WKU. With wins over the Trojans and Middle Tennessee, the Red Wolves will take the championship, but first they have to deal with a desperate Troy team that needs a win to get bowl eligible. The Trojans have been putting up huge numbers with 89 points in the last two games, but can the league’s No. 1 passing game and total offense overcome the balance of the ASU attack? David Oku and ASU will run enough to overcome a good day from the Trojan air show.

CFN Prediction: Arkansas State 48 … Troy 38
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Arkansas State -3 O/U: 68
Must Watch Rating (5 – Killing Them Softly, 1 – The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2): 3

Western Kentucky (6-4) at Louisiana-Lafayette (5-4) Nov. 17, 7:00, ESPN3

What Will Happen: It’s desperation time for a Western Kentucky team that has seen its season go into the tank losing three of the last four games to bow out of the Sun Belt chase. It was bad enough to lose, but the Hilltoppers dropped home dates to Middle Tennessee and FAU. Can the defense that leads the Sun Belt in just about every major category step up its play in time to close strong? ULL has lost three of the last four games, but it managed to create a buzz last week by coming achingly close to beating Florida, losing on a blocked punt for a score. The Ragin’ Cajun offense is solid, while the defense and the pressure from the front line should be enough to stay alive for at least a piece of the Sun Belt title.

CFN Prediction: Louisiana-Lafayette 27 … Western Kentucky 20

Must Watch Rating (5 – Killing Them Softly, 1 – The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2): 3
