Week 13 Mountain West Fearless Predictions & Game Previews

Air Force (6-5) at Fresno State (8-3) Nov. 24, 3:30, NBC Sports Network

What Will Happen: Air Force is already locked into the Armed Forces Bowl, but there’s still plenty to play for as it tries to keep Fresno State from winning at least a part of the Mountain West title. The Bulldogs have won four straight since to loss to Boise State, but can the defensive front that’s so great at getting into the backfield get to the Air Force ground game before it can get going? Robbie Rouse is coming off a 261-yard day against Nevada, and with two weeks off, should hit the 200-yard mark again against a defense that’s not stopping anyone’s ground attack.

CFN Prediction: Fresno State 31 … Air Force 21
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Fresno State -16.5 O/U: 60.5
Must Watch Rating (5 – Beware of Mr. Baker, 1 – Life of Pi): 3

San Diego State (8-3) at Wyoming (4-7) Nov. 24, 3:30

What Will Happen: Still in the hunt for at least a piece of the Mountain West title, San Diego State can technically be the conference champ – at least co-champ - with a win. On a six-game winning streak since losing to Fresno State, the Aztecs have improved been terrific defensively with the aggressive front seven that can stop Brett Smith and the Wyoming ground game. The Cowboys have turned things around a bit too late with three wins in a row, but the defense doesn’t have the pass rush or the defensive front to stop anything the Aztecs want to try.

CFN Prediction: San Diego State 31 … Wyoming 23
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) San Diego State -7 O/U: 56
Must Watch Rating (5 – Beware of Mr. Baker, 1 – Life of Pi): 2

New Mexico (4-8) at Colorado State (3-8) Nov. 24, 7:00

What Will Happen: On a five-game losing streak, New Mexico’s running game can’t overcome a defense that’s getting picked clean by anyone trying to throw the ball. However, Colorado State doesn’t have a passing game and is among the worst in the country against the run. The Rams have been decent against the pass, but New Mexico doesn’t make any pretense about throwing the ball, and won’t in Fort Collins. The Lobo ground attack will control the game and the clock, closing out Bob Davie’s first season on a high note.

CFN Prediction: New Mexico 31 … Colorado State 26
ATS Consultants Line (Click for more lines and picks) Colorado State -3.5 O/U: 54.5
Must Watch Rating (5 – Beware of Mr. Baker, 1 – Life of Pi): 1.5

UNLV (2-10) at Hawaii (1-9) Nov. 24, 11:00

What Will Happen: This is it for the Rebels, who had some fun a few games ago with a dominant win over New Mexico, but lost the last two weeks against Colorado State and Wyoming. Finishing up in Hawaii is as much like a bowl as it gets, and playing struggling team like the Warriors will help. Hawaii has been awful on its eight-game losing streak, and it’s still looking for its first win over an FBS team. The offense has scored 31 points over the last three weeks, but it should be able to work a little better against a Rebel defense that’s getting burned deep. Even so, UNLV should sneak by thanks to a more balanced, effective attack.

CFN Prediction: UNLV 38 … Hawaii 26

Must Watch Rating (5 – Beware of Mr. Baker, 1 – Life of Pi): 1
