Ball State

Non-Conference Games: Illinois State, Army, at North Texas, at Virginia
Games Against The East: at Akron, Kent State, Miami University
Realistic Best Case Record: 9-3
Worst Case Record: 6-6
Likely Finish: 8-4

Pre-Preseason Projected Wins: Illinois State, Army, at North Texas, at Eastern Michigan, Kent State, at Akron, Central Michigan, Miami Univ.

Pre-Preseason Projected Losses: Toledo, at Virginia, at Western Michigan, at Northern Illinois

Summary: With Illinois State, Army and a trip to North Texas to start the season, there’s a good shot at a nice 3-0 start before getting into MAC play and a date at Eastern Michigan. Eventually, the schedule has to even out with tougher games, and it starts with a home game with Toledo before a trip to Virginia kicks off a run of three road games in four weeks. The date at Northern Illinois makes it four road games in six dates, but there’s two weeks off to prepare for the finale against Miami University.

2013 Schedule
8/29 Illinois State
9/7 Army
9/14 at North Texas
9/21 at Eastern Michigan
9/28 Toledo
10/5 at Virginia
10/12 Kent State
10/19 at Western Michigan
10/26 at Akron
11/6 Central Michigan
11/13 at Northern Illinois
11/23 OPEN DATE
11/20 Miami Univ.

Central Michigan

Non-Conference Games: at Michigan, New Hampshire, at UNLV, at NC State
Games Against The East: at Miami Univ., Ohio, UMass
Realistic Best Case Record: 6-6
Worst Case Record: 2-10
Likely Finish: 3-9

Pre-Preseason Projected Wins: New Hampshire, UMass, Eastern Michigan

Pre-Preseason Projected Losses: at Michigan, at UNLV, Toledo, at NC State, at Miami Univ., at Ohio, Northern Illinois, at Ball State, at Western Michigan

Summary: The Chippewas will have a hard time capitalizing on a strong end to last season with a road game at Michigan to kick things off and dates at UNLV and NC State making it a rough September. Five of the first seven and seven of the first ten games are away from Mount Pleasant, and while getting ten days off to prepare for Western Michigan will be needed, it might not matter. Closing out against UMass and Eastern Michigan at home should help end things on a high note, but they’ll come after a rough overall road.

2013 Schedule
8/31 at Michigan
9/7 New Hampshire
9/14 at UNLV
9/21 Toledo
9/28 at NC State
10/5 at Miami Univ.

11/29 Eastern Michigan

Eastern Michigan

Non-Conference Games: Howard, at Penn State, at Rutgers, at Army
Games Against The East: at Buffalo, Ohio, Bowling Green
Realistic Best Case Record: 5-7
Worst Case Record: 1-11
Likely Finish: 0-12

Pre-Preseason Projected Wins: Howard

Pre-Preseason Projected Losses: at Penn State, at Rutgers, Ball State, at Buffalo, at Army, Ohio, at Northern Illinois, at Toledo, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, at Central Michigan

Summary: Where are the wins going to come from? The team should be better, but after starting out the season against Howard, it’s going to take a few upsets to have a decent season. Going on the road four times in five weeks and six times in eight should make it impossible to have any sort of success, and having Ball State and Ohio at home won’t be a help. Western Michigan and Bowling Green should be two of the MAC’s best teams, and closing out at Central Michigan will be tough. Getting two weeks to prepare for the Falcons should be a decent break, but will it help? If EMU finishes close to six wins, consider it a wildly successful season.

2013 Schedule

Northern Illinois

Non-Conference Games: at Iowa, at Idaho, Eastern Illinois, at Purdue
Games Against The East: Akron, at Kent State, at UMass
Realistic Best Case Record: 10-2
Worst Case Record: 6-6
Likely Finish: 9-3

Pre-Preseason Projected Wins: at Idaho, Eastern Illinois, at Kent State, Akron, at Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, at UMass, Ball State, Western Michigan

Pre-Preseason Projected Losses: at Iowa, at Purdue, at Toledo

Summary: Can NIU start out hot with a win at Iowa? Four of the first five and five of the first seven games are on the road, including a showdown at Purdue and a MAC championship rematch against Kent State, but it should be smooth sailing over the second half of the season with Akron, Eastern Michigan and UMass likely wins before closing out with key showdowns against Ball State, Toledo and Western Michigan. The time off comes before going to Idaho and facing BSU, but Toledo and WMU come within six days of each other.

Toledo

Non-Conference Games: at Florida, at Missouri, Eastern Washington, Navy
Games Against The East: at Akron, at Bowling Green, Buffalo,
Realistic Best Case Record: 9-3
Worst Case Record: 6-6
Likely Finish: 8-4

Pre-Preseason Projected Wins: Eastern Washington, at Central Michigan, at Ball State, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Buffalo, Northern Illinois, at Akron

Pre-Preseason Projected Losses: at Florida, at Missouri, Navy, at Bowling Green

Summary: The Rockets start out with a nasty run going to Florida and Missouri as part of four road games before October. Fortunately, five of the next six games are at home including the key West showdown against Northern Illinois before closing out with a layup at Akron. Getting two weeks off to get ready for Navy should help in what should be a good run. Going to Bowling Green is a bad break from the East, but getting Akron and Buffalo isn’t bad.

2013 Schedule

Western Michigan

Non-Conference Games: at Michigan State, Nicholls State, at Northwestern, at Iowa
Games Against The East: Buffalo, Kent State, at UMass
Realistic Best Case Record: 8-4
Worst Case Record: 5-7
Likely Finish: 7-5

Pre-Preseason Projected Wins: Nicholls State, Kent State, Buffalo, Ball State, at UMass, at Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan

Pre-Preseason Projected Losses: at Michigan State, at Northwestern, at Iowa, at Toledo, at Northern Illinois

Summary: The Broncos spend most of the first month on the road against Big Ten teams going to Michigan State, Northwestern and Iowa before dealing with Kent State. The showdown against the Golden Flashes is the only home game in a four game stretch before going to Toledo, and then things ease up in a big way with Buffalo, Ball State, at UMass at Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan to potentially go on a roll before closing out with the showdown at Northern Illinois.
