Butler received 101 total votes and took four of seven first place votes.
Snow was not far behind receiving 98 total votes and two first place votes.
Blinn College (Tex.) was again voted third with 93 total votes and one
first place vote.
Butler passed one of their toughest tests of the season by defeating
their conference rival and then No. 11 ranked Coffeyville Community College
22-14. The Grizzlies came back from a 14-3 deficit to score 19 unanswered
points in the fourth quarter to remain undefeated at 6-0. Their comeback was
sparked by a blocked Coffeyville punt that was returned for a 30 yard
touchdown by Marcus Martinez early in the fourth quarter. Butler then
managed to score two more touchdowns in the final eight minutes of the game
to pull out the win.
Snow cruised to their seventh win of the season with a 44-6 victory over
Mesa Community College (Ariz.). Snow took a 10-6 halftime lead and scored 34
unanswered points in the second half to continue their current dominance in
the Western States Football League. Quarterback Cade Cooper spearheaded an
explosive offensive game for the Badgers by completing 30 of 42 pass
attempts for 456 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Running back
Matt Asiata controlled the ground attack rushing for 114 yards and three
touchdowns. For the season, Snow has outscored its opponents 290-60.
Trinity Valley Community College (Tex.) was no match for third-ranked
Blinn College this weekend as the Buccaneers racked up 172 yards rushing,
including two rushing touchdowns from Bernard Scott, en route to a 35-14
victory. Blinn's record remains perfect at 6-0 and they are tied for the top
spot in the SWJCFC (Southwest Junior College Football Conference) with Cisco
Junior College (Tex.), who remains at No. 5 in this week's poll.
This week's poll features the debut of Scottsdale Community College
(Ariz.) at No. 17 and the return of Arizona Western College at No. 19.
