Mountain West Bests, Worsts, and CFN's Team MVP Choices

Mountain West Player of the Year

John Beck, QB BYU
It's a shame he didn't get more national attention. Beck completed 70% of his passes for 3,510 yards and 30 touchdowns with six interceptions while running for five scores. He was one of the main reasons the Cougars breeze through the first six games of the Mountain West schedule, and then he closed out with pizzazz with the brilliant, scrambling, game-winning pass to Jonny Harline to beat Utah.

Defensive Player of the Year - Eric Weddle, CB Utah
Not just one of America's best corners, Weddle also served as a key runner late in the year highlighted by a 73-yard two touchdown game in the win over Air Force. He led the Mountain West with six interceptions thanks to a three-pick, two touchdown day in the 38-7 win over San Diego State.
