Week 1
- Houston at
Oregon
The Cougars get a chance to show there’s life after Kevin Kolb and make
a grand statement on a national scale.
Week 2 -
Southern Miss at Tennessee
Southern Miss always wants to play anyone, any time, and place.
Tennessee is not just anyone.
Week 3 -
BYU at Tulsa
The first big test for Todd Graham and the new Tulsa coaching staff. If
nothing else, this would make for a great bowl game.
Week 4 -
Southern Miss at Boise State
Possibly a matchup of conference champions, the Eagles get a great shot
to show they should be considered among the best of the non-BCS teams.
Week 5 -
East Carolina at Houston
ECU has a chance to make a big early statement in the C-USA race. A win
over the defending champs in their place could set the tone for the
season.
Week 6
- Tulsa
at UTEP
A West Division showdown, UTEP begins a big, tough three-game home
stretch against three of the four best teams in the league: Tulsa, East
Carolina and Houston (Southern Miss is the fourth).
Week 7 -
SMU at Southern Miss
A possible title game matchup (yes, SMU should be that good), Justin
Willis and the Mustangs begin a brutal stretch of three road games in
four going to USM with trips to Tulsa and Houston after a layup against
Tulane.
Week 8 -
Tulsa at UCF
The best in a lousy week of conference games, NC State at ECU might be
more interesting.
Week 9 -
Houston at UTEP
It’s elimination week in the West with the Cougars squaring off against
the Miners and SMU facing Tulsa.
Week 10 -
SMU at Houston
Closing out the weekend with a good Sunday night showdown, SMU gets a
national showcase for how far the program has come.
Week 11 -
Houston at Tulsa
A brutal three-week stretch (at UTEP and SMU before this) finishes up
for the Cougars with a trip to Tulsa. If this isn’t for the West title,
it’ll make a big impact on the outcome.
Week 12 -
Southern Miss at UTEP
UTEP can finally shake its late-season collapse issues with a statement
win over what might be the best team in the East.
Week 13 -
Tulsa at Rice
In what should be a lousy week of games to close out the season, Tulsa
can’t slip up at Rice if it has any hope of playing for the title.
