North Texas held a 27-17 lead late into the fourth helped by two Jamario Thomas touchdown runs and a two-yard Micah Mosley score, but ASU came back with touchdown runs from Preston Brown and Reggie Arnold, and started the fourth quarter comeback with a six-yard T.J. Jordan touchdown catch. The vaunted UNT passing game was held to 160 yards.

Conference Roundup

Arkansas State … Corey Leonard means everything to the ASU offense. The way he was able to lead the comeback against North Texas showed just how much he's worth to the team. Now the problem is how the Indians got down in the first place. In the final home game of the year, this will be a very nice way to go into the off-season if ASU loses to Southern Miss next week. To have any chance of winning, the running game will have to be stronger than it was next week.
FIU … FIU finally came up with a big-time offensive performance with Wayne Younger having his best game as a starter and Amod Ned running wild, but the defense couldn't stop the UL Lafayette running game. Even in yet another loss, the team played well and showed improvement. Defensively, Michael Dominguez had a whale of a game, while Lionel Singleton was all over the place making plays. If the offense plays like this, FIU will come up with a win either against Florida Atlantic or North Texas.
Florida Atlantic  … The Owls were never going to beat Florida, but they did come up with a nice second quarter when the offense got moving and Rusty Smith got on a roll. Even in the blowout, the receiving corps, particularly Cortez Gent, had a nice day. The second half was all Florida with the FAU defense unable to handle the Gator speed, but there won't be that problem against FIU or Troy to close out.
Middle Tennessee … Didn’t Play This Week
North Texas … Can North Texas ever get a break? It lost to Navy in an epic shootout last week, and now it can't hold on to a ten-point lead against Arkansas State. The run defense did a terrific job a week after getting steamrolled over by Navy, while the running game provided as much balance as it's had all year. As ugly as things have gotten, the team has had its moments where it looks terrific. If the Mean Green can ever put it all together and get everything working at once, this will be a tough team to stop. That might not happen until next year.
Troy … Didn’t Play This Week
UL Lafayette … The loss of Michael Desormeaux to a bruised clavicle would be a killer against UL Monroe next week unless Connor Morel can do what he did against FIU. While not the runner Desormeaux is, Morel threw extremely well and was a strong complement to Tyrell Fenroy. The problem was a defense, outside fo Antwyn Zanders, that made FIU look good for the first time all season long. Even so, on a two-game winning streak, the Ragin' Cajuns have a shot to end the season on a major high note by beating the rivals next week.
UL Monroe … The ULM defense pulled off an absolute stunner against Alabama with great plays on every key down in the second half, and just enough offense to get by. Last year ULM came within an eyelash of beating Kentucky, but that was in a shootout. This time around against an SEC team, the defense came up with a gem to make up for an average day from the offense that only got 121 rushing yards and averaged 2.8 yards per carry. Now, after this stunner, a win over UL Lafayette would mean a tremendous comeback winning five of the final six games.
