Sun Belt Player of the Year

Rusty Smith, QB Florida Atlantic
Smith stepped up his play after a promising freshman season and not just improved, but led his young program to a Sun Belt title and the New Orleans Bowl. The most efficient passer in the league, he threw 27 passes and just eight interceptions, while bombing away for 3,352 yards. He made everyone around him better, and best of all, he'll be around for two more years to keep building the team around.

Defensive Player of the Year - Tyrell Johnson, S Arkansas State
As he had done throughout his career, Johnson proved to be the league's most reliable last line of defense against the run with 94 tackles, while also serving as a big-hitting helper for the pass defense. He combined with Khayyam Burns to form the Sun Belt's best safety tandem; a pair good enough to hold it own against anyone in the country.
