Who’s really the best option to take over the Boise State starting quarterback job?

From Kevin Hiatt, BroncoCountry.com

Honestly.. right now the Bronco's QB spot is a wide-open four-man race.  I really don't know if I could even begin to guess as to who's the best option to start, but each of the four has an intriguing story.

Bush Hamdan's brother is in the NFL, (Gibran Hamdan), and was supposed to start last year before getting beaten out late. Nick Lomax, made the biggest strides in the last year and has that Lomax bloodline (his dad is Neil). Mike Coughlin is likely the heir apparent, his grandfather was the first CFB All-American in the West. Kellen Moore, who owns nearly every Washington state passing record, is the highest rated QB recruit ever at Boise State.

At this point, you've got a better chance of flipping a coin and guessing the best option.

Is this Pat Hill’s best team yet? If not, what’s missing?

From Mario D. Gomez, Publisher BarkBoard.com

It will be Pat's most athletic and by far his deepest team.  If they can do these three things it could be his best:

1.  Everyone needs to stay healthy.  Last year's team had 13 starters miss games, six of those were lost for the season.  As a whole, over 30 players of the 105 on the roster were out due to injuries at the end of the year.

2. Pat must find a replacement for LB Marcus Riley. Ricky Pemasa was recruited specifically to fill this role.  They are big shoes made even tougher to fill since WLB backup Ryan Machadao will miss spring ball, and probably fall camp, while nursing a knee injury.  Walk-on sophomore Nick Bates could likely be the starter in the fall camp.  He's a decent player, but hardly the type of game controlling LB Riley was.  Pemasa is capable of becoming that type of player but he's a very big question mark.

3. The plethora of athletes recruited this year need to be blended into the offense early on.  Clifton Smith's ability to block made defenses respect his presence on the field.  When he was on the field, you didn't know what the offense would do.  Ideally, incoming recruits RB AJ Ellis, WR Rashad Evans, and QB Ebahn Feathers could fill in for Smith's various roles.  And Pat has hinted that RB Ryan Mathews role will increase -- Mathews was also a HS QB and can throw the ball out of a direct snap.  Tim Lang also could get some looks.  But one of these guys needs to step up and take over the "slash" role.
