Let's Get This Started

12 weeks away from the start of the SEC football season, if you are craving SEC information and opinion you have come to the right place.

As I sit typing at my desk there is one thing on my mind that will not get out of my head, it isn't a thing as much as it is a date and that date is August 28th. To some in this country that is the last day of work before a long Labor Day Weekend, to others it is just another Thursday. But to those of you who will frequent this column, you know that the SEC Football Season gets underway that night.
That day is my Christmas, it is my New Year's Day because the year doesn't start for me until I hear the familiar theme from 2001 Space Odyssey. At that moment this year in William Brice Stadium SEC Football is Back. SEC football is as much a part of my life as my family is, it may only be a family that I get to see for a couple months a year, but I wish was with me year round.
Sure college football fans are fortunate to have recruiting in February, Spring Practices in March/April, Player led workouts in June and of course two-a-days in August. But once that toe meets leather on game-day in the South, I feel like a part of me has returned and I never want it to leave again.
There is a reason for the third year in a row the nation will witness the start of the college football season on ESPN in an SEC Stadium. The SEC appreciates its football more than any other conference in the country and we know how to celebrate it.
I was fortunate enough to spend 4 amazing falls on the Loveliest Village on the Plains and I would not trade them for anything. I know every one of you out there felt the same way if you were in Gainesville or Athens or Tuscaloosa. The South knows college football and the SEC is College Football done right.
Each week until August 28th I plan to have some great insights on the upcoming season as well as some great topics for discussion to get you through the next 12 weeks. Once the season starts I will have stories up each day of the week varying from weekend recaps, game predictions and my opinion on how the SEC is shaping up throughout the year.
I know you are out there tracking down those preseason magazines and waiting for your SEC team to be highlighted on CollegeFootballNews.com. I will highlight each team in the conference and talk about the games that matter to SEC fans.
I am really looking forward to reading your comments and getting a great discussion going about SEC football. Please bring your passion and excitement, I know there is a not a lack of it in any SEC fan. I am ready to get this season started, I have a feeling I am not the only one.
