Colorado –CU’s rout of Colorado State gave the North a perfect 6-0 mark to start the season…After debating throughout training camp, junior Devin Head and redshirt freshman Blake Behrens were the starting offensive guards…After sacking QB’s 19 times in 2007, CU defenders recorded five sacks against CSU…Freshman RB Darrell Scott did not start, but did rush for 54 yards on 11 carries and a second half touchdown.

Iowa State – QB’s Austen Arnaud and Phillip Bates looked good in the opener, giving ISU some confidence heading into this week’s game with Kent State…The Cyclones will be looking for payback against the Golden Flashes, who upset ISU 23-14 in the ’07 season opener… Other than the five interceptions by the defense, the best news for Coach Chizik was that there were no injuries of note.

Kansas – Senior WR Dexton Fields left the opener left the game in the first quarter getting his foot caught in the turf. The status of Fields, who led the Jayhawks with 63 catches last year, is uncertain for KU’s matchup with Louisiana Tech on Saturday….Freshman OT Jeremiah Hatch, who’d been named the starter before the season, was in uniform but did not play against Florida International. Mangino did not comment on the situation after the game.

Kansas State – LB John Houlik was suspended prior to the opener and will sit out the first three games due to an August arrest for driving under the influence…LB Chris Patterson has left the team…KSU has won 84% of its home games over the last 18 years as it prepares to host 1-AA Montana State this week.

Missouri – The site of WR Jeremy Maclin on the sidelines on crutches at the end of the game against Illinois is cause for concern for Mizzou. X-rays were negative but there was swelling on Maclin’s ankle. It isn’t known how much time, if any, Maclin will miss…Any concerns on Derrick Washington’s ability to replace Tony Temple should be eased as the sophomore carried the ball 18 times for 130 yards against the Illini.

Nebraska –Converted RB Cody Glenn led the Huskers with 12 tackles in his first-ever game at linebacker…Joe Ganz has now thrown at least four touchdown passes in his four career starts…The Husker defense had four sacks and forced two turnovers after recording just one turnover in the final seven games of 2007…The running back by committee theme played out Saturday as four different Huskers carried the ball, led by Marlon Lucky’s 12 rushes.
