Jon Tavares

Boise State

Bronco fans were thrilled with the play of Freshman QB Kellen Moore Saturday as he went 14-19 for 274 yards and 2 TDs in his first career start…  Sophomore DE Ryan Winterswyk was injured on Thursday and didn’t play vs. Idaho State…  Sr. MLB Kyle Gingg also missed the game but is likely back vs. Bowling Green…  Sophomore WR Titus Young scored 2 TDs Saturday but also had 2 fumbles.  He’ll need to eliminate those errors as the level of competition rises over the next 2 weeks vs. Bowling Green and Oregon.

Fresno State

Fresno opens with Rutgers in a nationally televised game on September 1, the first time the schools have met.  Rutgers will play at Fresno in 2012…  This is one of two trips to the Eastern Time Zone this year for Fresno as they’ll be at Toledo on Sept. 20…  Sr. S Jake Jorde and Soph. LBs Nico Herron and Chris Carter will be making their first career starts vs. Rutgers …  Watch out for potential Special Teams miscues for Fresno as well.  The Bulldog Punter, Kicker and Long Snapper will all be getting their first meaningful game time in the Rutgers game.

Following the atrocious Quarterback play Hawaii got at Florida, 3rd string Junior QB Inoke Funaki has been named the starter this week for the home opener vs. Weber State…  Starting Left Tackle Laupepa Letuli injured his shoulder and #2 RB Daniel Libre suffered a high ankle sprain versus Florida.  Both will be out for several weeks…  Sr. WR Aaron Bain, in his first career start, broke a finger on his left hand but came back to catch the Warrior’s only TD late in the game and is expected to play with the injury this week as well.

RT Tyrone Novikoff, NT Aaron Lavarias and TE Peter Bjorvik were all injured in the 70-0 loss at Arizona, the 4th worst loss in school history… Idaho now is tied for the longest active losing streak in the FBS division with SMU at 12 losses in a row…  Idaho hasn’t beaten an FBS team since beating La Tech on Oct. 14, 2006.

Louisiana Tech
The win by La Tech over Mississippi St. was the first for the program over an SEC team since 1999.  The game also marked the first time a current member of the SEC played in Ruston, LA since LSU came to town in 1908…  Former Georgia Tech quarterback Taylor Bennett started for Louisiana Tech and completed 14 of 40 passes for 175 yards, with one TD…  La Tech is on the road this week at Kansas.

While Nevada rolled for over 400 rushing yards on Grambling State, the strength of schedule takes a major step up this week as Texas Tech comes to Reno…  HC Chris Ault was pleased with the win over Grambling but said his team needs to eliminate mistakes to stay in the game vs. Texas Tech.

New Mexico State

The Aggies were to be playing vs. Nicholls State on September 4 but the impending arrival of Hurricane Gustav in Louisiana caused the game to be postponed.  No date has been set for a make-up game as of yet.

Utah State

The Aggies are at Oregon this Saturday.
