Pac 10 Game of the Week

Oregon 32 ... Purdue 26 2OT
Oregon got a three-yard touchdown run from LeGarrette Blount in the second overtime to finish off the comeback. Purdue jumped out to a 20-3 lead helped by Kory Sheets touchdown runs from 80 and two yards, and had a chance to win in regulation but Chris Summers badly missed a 44-yard field goal. The Ducks roared back in the second half with an 87-yard Jairus Byrd punt return for a score and a five-yard Blount touchdown run, but they could only manage a 38-yard Matt Evenson field goal in the fourth quarter to tie it at 23. Summers hit a 22-yarder in the first overtime but missed a 47-yarder in the second.

Pac 10 Player of the Week
USC DE Kyle Moore made eight tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and recovered a fumble in the win over Ohio State

Conference
Roundup

Arizona Where did the offense go? The Arizona defense got beaten up and bruised by Rodney Ferguson and the New Mexico offense, but five turnovers and no running game proved to be a killer for the Cats. The defense might have had problems against the run, giving up 221 total yards, but it did a good job of keeping the Lobos to field goals instead of touchdowns to keep the game close. However, Willie Tuitama wasn’t always able to answer. It’ll go unnoticed, but punter Keenyn Crier blasted the ball on his few opportunities.
Arizona State ASU took its foot off the gas a bit against UNLV and it proved deadly. The Rebels outplayed and outexecuted the Sun Devils in the fourth quarter, and it could be a positive going forward. This game showed how ASU has to play a full 60 minutes against everyone, and it could serve as a wake-up call. The passing game was fine, but not razor sharp, while the ground game was serviceable. Both offensive areas will have to be far better against Georgia.
California … Was the time change really that big a deal? California didn't look like it was ready to play from the opening kickoff against a fired up Maryland team. The Bears should've been able to pound the ball, but couldn't. The biggest issues were a defense that struggled too much early on against the run and an offense that couldn't convert on third downs. Now the Bears get a week off before getting to rebound against Colorado State. The running game should get going against the Rams.
Oregon … Oregon showed heart and toughness being able to come back to beat Purdue. It wasn't the prettiest performance, and it took a while for the offense to show up, but LeGarrette Blount did what he needed to do both short and with a 72-yard dash. Defensively, Nick Reed had a whale of a game with two sacks and several pressures. The big issue going forward will be at quarterback with Justin Roper leaving late with a knee injury.
Oregon State … Oregon State needed a blowout win after an ugly start to the season. The offense was humming against Hawaii with Lyle Moevao coming through with a nice day and the running game doing enough to provide a balance. Most importantly, there weren’t any turnovers and the Beaver attack was able to go on long, sustained drives.
Stanford … As Toby Gerhart goes, so goes the Stanford offense. Gerhard was held to 45 yards rushing and 42 receiving against TCU, and Tavita Pritchard wasn’t able to pick up the slack with the passing game. The defense, even with the NFL talent in a few spots, isn’t going to be a plus this year, so the offense has to learn how to keep pace. The Pac 10 has several winnable games to be had, and Stanford has to be ready to start firing.
UCLA … The floodgates were opened and they couldn't be shut. UCLA doesn't have the firepower to keep up with an offense like BYU's once it starts rolling, and the team did nothing to slow things down once they got out of hand. The biggest problem is that nothing went right. There wasn't anything from the passing game, the running game was non-existent, and the defense went bye-bye early on. It's only one game. UCLA has to regroup and not get too down, or else the high-octane attack of Arizona will come up with a repeat performance of Provo.
USC  … Mark Sanchez, Joe McKnight, and Damian Williams will likely get all the accolades for the blowout win over Ohio State, but it was the play of the lines that was the difference. The offensive line gave Sanchez all day to throw, while Kyle Moore, Fili Moala and the defensive front dominated. OSU QB Todd Boeckman was getting hit seemingly every time he tried to make something happen. USC's coaching staff adjusted on the fly, and Ohio State's coaching staff didn't. This was the confident, sharp team everyone was expecting, and now the goal has to be to keep the same focus every week.
Washington After the debacle at the end of the BYU game, the last thing the Huskies needed was to get their doors blown off in ugly, humiliating fashion. Unfortunately, Bob Stoops has it out for the Pac 10 and he wanted to make a point after the loss to Oregon a few years ago. The Husky defense didn’t have a prayer against the well-oiled Sooner machine, while the offense didn’t do nearly enough to keep the defense off the field. Jake Locker had to go it alone, with few making plays around him.
Washington State … Who gives up 426 rushing yards to Baylor? Washington State couldn't have a worse start to the season with three straight blowout losses, and now the team has to find something it can do well. New head coach Paul Wulff isn't getting the offense going. His quarterbacks weren't awful, Kevin Lopina got things moving when he had time, but the offensive line hasn't allowed the attack to do much. The pass protection was abysmal and there wasn't much of a running game, netting just 77 yards.
