Collegefootballnews' Matthew Smith Reviews all the Pac-10 Games, Week Fourteen

Oregon: A likely Holiday Bowl bid and a big Civil War win is a very nice day's work.
Washington St: They were legitimately competitive against a legitimately decent team.
USC: A thoroughly dominant performance over Notre Dame.

Arizona St: They got the win they needed, but they really didn't play as well as they would like.

UCLA: The bowl dreams just went bye-bye.
Oregon St: The Rose Bowl dreams just went bye-bye.

Oregon 65, @ Oregon St (-2.5) 38
my pick: @ Oregon St 31, Oregon 30

What to take from this:
If you're Oregon:

Who says you can't win on the road in the Civil War? After this one, I don't think anyone will. Two years after nearly pulling the upset in Corvallis, and one year after getting knocked off on their own home turf, the Ducks blew the doors off Oregon St. Their offense completely lit up the scoreboard, and while the defense gave up plenty of big plays and points, they also picked up four turnovers and got put some points on the board themselves. This was one of the best games the Ducks have played in a long time.

If you're Oregon St:
So much for that Rose Bowl dream. In a game they desperately needed in order to make this a season to remember, they'll instead be trying hard to forget this one for a long time. Their defense gave up over 600 yards, their offense coughed it up four times, and basically they got beaten in just about every phase of the game. Yes, they'd have been a better team with Jacquizz Rodgers, and yes, it would have been more of a game, but he doesn't play defense. Even if they put more points on the board than they did, it wouldn't have been enough, because they simply could not stop the Oregon Ducks. That's going to sting for a very long time.

@ Arizona St (-10) 34, UCLA 9
my pick: @ Arizona St 31, UCLA 28

What to take from this:
If you're UCLA:

Other than the three pick sixes and a ASU fumble return for seven, the Bruins played a pretty decent game. Yes, that was a bit sarcastic, but it's also a bit true. The UCLA defense played very well throughout, and don't forget, this was an eight point game in the fourth quarter with a Bruin score imminent before Nolan returned one 100 yards. Despite the embarrassing final score, this team isn't bad. They're a lot better than the group that got annihilated at BYU and then embarrassed at home by Arizona.

If you're Arizona St:
When they needed big plays, they got them. That said, big defensive plays bailed this team out big-time. Maybe they'll get as lucky as they did here next week in Tucson, but it's not likely. If they want to reach six wins and a bowl game, they will really need to up their effort.

@ USC (-31.5) 38, Notre Dame 3
my pick: @ USC 42, Notre Dame 14

What to take from this:
So much for all that talent Notre Dame had on offense. USC decided to make a point, and when that happens, they usually make a big one, and this game was no exception. Because the league was down, and because their non-conference opponents weren't quite as good as advertised, they'll miss the national title game, but this is still a very good team that no one wants to play.

@ Hawaii 24, Washington St 10
my pick: @ Hawaii 42, Washington St 10

What to take from this:
It turns out the Cougars can play a bit of defense after all. Yeah, they gave up 14 points pretty quick, and never really made it much of a contest (though they close within seven early in the third quarter), but they were pretty reasonably competitive. It's not what they wanted, which was a win, but this wasn't a bad performance at all.
