Big Ten Player of the Year

Shonn Greene, RB Iowa
Greene was the only runner in America who ran for 100 yards or more in every game with 1,850 yards and 20 touchdowns. He scored in every game but the loss to Michigan State, and he ripped off 15 touchdown runs in the final seven games including three scores in the win over South Carolina. Beyond being consistent, he showed he could come up with home runs, power runs, and everything in between.

Defensive Player of the Year - Mitch King, DT Iowa
There might have been flashier defensive players, and certainly a few Penn State stars deserved to be here, but King was everything to one of the nation's best defensive fronts. Iowa finished 12th in the nation in total defense, fifth in scoring and sixth against the run led by the tackle combination of Matt Kroul and Mitch King. King was a superior interior pass rusher with a team-leading four sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss.
