Eleven SEC Spring Games Announced

There won’t be a lot of spying by member institutions in 2009 of rival spring games. Most of the two division conference has set the same day aside for its annual spring game.

There won’t be a lot of spying by member institutions in 2009 of rival spring games. Most of the two division conference has set the same day aside for its annual spring game. The news will send news crews scrambling to its own designated school for coverage’s.

The old adage, “we will run up to Tennessee and down to Alabama and then head over to Georgia, then head to Florida tomorrow,” will not hold this season for the news media.

Alabama A-Day Game

The University of Alabama will hold it’s annual A—Day game on April 18th at 2:00 PM. The Crimson Tide set a college football record in the spring 07 contest with a capacity crowd of 92,138. Crimson Tide football is at an all time high, will the students break another record this spring?

Arkansas Sets Red-White Game

The Bobby Petrino Era enters its second spring season in Fayetteville. The university has set April 18 as the date for the 2009 spring game. The Razorback Band is expected to form the “A” for the team to run through prior to the opening kickoff to add to the excitement.

Auburn A-Day Game

Auburn University has moved it spring game date from the original planned date of March 28th to April 18th. "Moving A-Day to mid-April will allow the football staff more time to evaluate each player so that we have a better idea of where we are as a team headed into spring practice," said new Tiger head coach Gene Chizik in a press release.

Georgia G-Day Game

Georgia will take to the field on April 11th at 1:00 PM for their annual Black and Red Battle in Athens. The Bulldogs are fresh off their Capital One Bowl victory over Michigan State of the Big 10. QB Joe Cox assumes control of Mark Richt’s offensive attack inside Sanford Stadium.

Florida Orange And Blue Game

The defending national champions will open their annual spring game on April 18th at 1:00 PM. The Gators second national football title in three years, and the SEC’s third straight only heighten the return of Tim Tebow for a fourth season.

Kentucky Blue And White Game

The Wildcats return to action after winning their third bowl game in a row, a feat that had not happened in Lexington since the ‘Cats won three in a row in 1950,51,52. Kentucky has set their annual spring game for April 25th says Tony Neeley. Rich Brooks proved the media wrong once again, by making the Wildcats a worthy opponent week in and week out.

LSU Backs Up Spring Date

Les Miles has asked the school to change up its dates to allow him and D-Coordinator John Chavis to have time to prepare players for the new staff. Chavis will lead the Tigers charge with the hires of Ron Cooper and Brick Haley. Rumors have the Tigers game tentatively set for April 18th.

“We backed it up a little bit, so our players can learn and our new coaches can teach, and can become familiar with each other,” Miles said.

Mississippi State Announces Spring Game

The Dan Mullen era is underway in Starkville. State has moved the game back two weeks to help their baseball program; that includes a series of games. Mullen, is now the Bulldogs 32 coach in the programs 114 year history. The spring game will be played at Scott Field on Saturday, April 18.

Ole Miss Spring Game

We are still awaiting word back from Oxford for the Rebels Spring Game date. There is still a lot of celebrating going on after the thrashing of Texas Tech by Houston Nutt’s troops in the Cotton Bowl.

South Carolina Chooses Garnett And Black Date

The Gamecocks will hold their spring game a week before the major conference players with an April 11th date. But, knowing Steve Spurrier, you get the idea he will be front and center of many television sets the next Saturday. Spokeswoman Marcy Girton said the game time has not been set in Columbia.

Tennessee Orange And White Game

The University of Tennessee has completed its football coaching staff hiring’s, with that task finished, the Volunteers have scheduled their 49th annual Orange and White Game.

Lane Kiffin will put the 118th edition of the Vols on the field for the first time on April 18th. Fan Day will begin at 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM for fan autographs with players and coaches.

“There is a lot of excitement around the new coaching staff and this gives our fans the opportunity to get a sneak peak of what’s to come in the fall,” said UT AD Mike Hamilton.

Vanderbilt Black And Gold Game

The Commodores are fresh off their first bowl appearance in 26 years under Bobby Johnson. The excitement is growing with the additions to Dudley Field and the athletic facilities that are taking shape on campus. Spokesman Larry Feathers says the Commodores spring game has been tentatively set for March 28th.
