1. Matthew Stafford, Georgia
6-2, 225
Pre-Combine
Position Rank: 1
Post-Combine Skinny: He didn't
solidify himself as the No. 1 quarterback, but he didn't falter in the
slightest. Not quite as big as expected, but ran extremely well with a
4.81.
Positives: Tremendous arm
strength … Tough … Right mentality to be a franchise quarterback.
Negatives: Not huge. Barely
6-3 … While good at Georgia, he didn’t win enough big games and so far
has been more of a tools prospect than an on-field producer.
2.
Josh Freeman, Kansas State 6-6, 248
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 3
Post-Combine Skinny: A
huge winner from the workouts. Extremely athletic for a player of his
size. Impressed more and more with every passing moment.
Positives: Prototype size and strength. Can move, too. … Had to try
to carry bad KSU teams … experienced and young. … Huge arm.
Negatives: Still a bit
unknown. Had to press too much to make things happen. … Needs to play up
to his size and work on his throwing motion.
3.
Mark Sanchez, USC 6-3, 227
Pre-Combine
Position Rank: 2
Post-Combine Skinny: Passed every
test. Showed real, honest fire and passion for the game off the field,
measured up to Matthew Stafford on it. Cranked out a solid 9-8 broad
jump and scored high marks for throwing when he wasn't expected to.
Positives: Quick release. Good at getting the ball out of his hands
in a hurry … Great fire. He’s not Matt Leinart … Can move.
Negatives: Was fine at USC,
but not elite … Barely 6-3 … NFL arm, but not jaw-dropping … If Pete
Carroll didn’t think he was ready, what’s the issue?
4. Nate Davis, Ball
State 6-1, 226
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 4
Post-Combine Skinny: Looked smooth and showed off his arm, but
everyone was looking for more athleticism and speed that wasn't there.
Positives:
Great arm and excellent production … Can move in pocket and out … Bad
weather thrower.
Negatives:
Not huge … A system player? He was put in great situations … Not a fiery
leader.
5.
Pat White, West Virginia 6-0,
197
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 11
Post-Combine
Skinny: Told everyone he'd be willing to work at receiver, but he
threw extremely well and tore off a solid 4.55.
Positives: Elite,
offense-defining running skills … Smart, with good enough arm to get by
… Clutch … A winner.
Negatives:
Small and likely not durable as an every down quarterback … Average
arm.
6. Cullen Harper, Clemson 6-3, 225
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 5
Post-Combine Skinny: Lifted 225 19 times. He ran well enough and he
was more than fine throwing it.
Positives: Good arm and
mobility … Got through a tough situation last year … Tough and
competitive.
Negatives: He
didn’t produce as expected with the spotlight on … Has work to do on
delivery … Tries to do too much at times.
7. Rhett Bomar,
Sam Houston State 6-2, 225
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 6
Post-Combine Skinny: A bit erratic with his throws, but he ran
well, moved well, and lifted an benched 25 reps.
Positives: Great arm and excellent physical skills … Fiery
competitor. … Made the players around him better at SHSU.
Negatives: Didn’t face
top-shelf competition … Reconstructed knee … Not huge.
8. Curtis
Painter, Purdue 6-3, 225
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 7
Post-Combine Skinny: Moved well for his size. Pressed a bit,
but he didn't make any major mistakes. Didn't stand out, either.
Positives: Mobile and productive when he gets rolling … Good
character. Good guy.
Negatives:
Struggled to make his receivers better last year … Didn’t lead the
offense to consistent production.
9. John Parker Wilson, Alabama
6-2, 219
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 8
Post-Combine Skinny: Ran well, looked strong. Solidified himself as
a possible third rounder.
Positives: Game
manager … Solid passer with nice mechanics … Veteran who saw it all.
Negatives: Not big. Not a
prototype … Mediocre arm … Not mobile enough for his size.
10.
Hunter Cantwell, Louisville 6-4, 235
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 10
Post-Combine Skinny: Big
and lumbering. His delivery change from the Senior Bowl was a plus.
Measured big.
Positives: Great size and excellent arm …. Looks the part and could
be good with the right coaching.
Negatives: A statue … Needs a
lot of seasoning and reps. Only started one year and was average.
11.
Nathan Brown, Central Arkansas 6-1, 219
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 9
Post-Combine Skinny:
Didn't run a fast 40 (4.91), but was athletic to make up for his lack of
size.
Positives: Ultra-productive
bomber … Very accurate. Good winner … Solid arm.
Negatives: Central Arkansas …
Not mobile enough for his size … Small. Too small.
12.
Drew Willy, Buffalo 6-3, 215
Pre-Combine
Position Rank: 15
Post-Combine Skinny: If you liked him
before, you love him now. Wasn't too fast, but was athletic. Moved well.
Positives: Veteran four-year
starter … Nice game manager and good leader … Accurate.
Negatives: Not a great athlete
… Good arm, not great.
13.
Graham Harrell, Texas Tech 6-2, 223
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 12
Post-Combine Skinny: He was exactly as expected. Didn't run
well, but threw fine when he wasn't under pressure.
Positives: Ultra-productive …
Tough as nails, especially for his size. Doesn’t get rattled … Great
tough and timing.
Negatives:
Doesn’t have an NFL arm … System quarterback who needs work under
center … Not tall.
14. Chase Daniel, Missouri 6-0, 218
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 13
Post-Combine Skinny: Measured up to the magical 6-0
mark, but he wasn't fast in the 40. Shortest arms of the QBs by far.
Positives: Ultimate leader.
Very fiery competitor … Great accuracy and production when he gets on a
roll … Mobile.
Negatives:
Too short … Will be compared to Drew Brees because of size and
production, but he isn’t Drew Brees … Gets in trouble when he tries to
do too much.
15. Willie Tuitama, Arizona 6-4, 230
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 14
Post-Combine Skinny: Wasn't Invited To The Combine
Positives: Good size and bulk.
Looks the part … NFL arm with decent mobility in the pocket … Accurate.
Negatives: Durabilty a major
problem … Was fine at Arizona, but not special. Didn’t blow up as
expected.
16.
Stephen McGee, Texas A&M 6-3, 235
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 19
Post-Combine Skinny:
Created a stir with his speed. His 4.66 40 was second only to Pat White.
Ran well, and was fine throwing.
Positives: Great runner …
Quick learner. Can pick up any system right away.
Negatives: Lost his job as a
senior partly due to a shoulder injury … Not an elite arm.
17. Tom
Brandstater, Fresno State 6-5, 220
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 17
Post-Combine Skinny: Measured as big as advertised. Was
surprisingly agile and threw well.
Positives: Excellent size and
good arm … Could be a sleeper with the right coaching.
Negatives: Didn’t improve
enough with experience … Average production.
18. Mike Teel,
Rutgers 6-3, 230
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 18
Post-Combine Skinny: Wasn't Invited To The Combine
Positives: Good size …
Overcame rough start to dominate late his senior year … Good arm.
Negatives: Not mobile …
Benefitted from having a good running game and great receivers.
19.
Chase Holbrook, New Mexico State 6-4, 242
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 16
Post-Combine Skinny:
Looked puffy. Too big. Threw well, but not well enough to make a
statement of any sort.
Positives: Big-time
size … Excellent arm. Can make all the throws … Accurate.
Negatives: Didn’t produce as
well as he should’ve in QB friendly offense … Not mobile.
20.
Michael Reilly, Central Washington
6-3, 214
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 20
Post-Combine Skinny: Big, strong, and athletic. While he
looked like he belonged in the group, he didn't stand out in any way.
Positives:
Nice size, good mobility, good arm … Ultra-productive and accurate.
Negatives: Central Washington
is D-II … Good arm. Not a jaw dropper.
21.
Brian Hoyer, Michigan State 6-2, 215
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 24
Post-Combine Skinny: Good
buzz from a few of the scouts. Some think he has big upside as a pro and
will be better than he was at MSU.
Positives: Good arm … Solid
game manager … Won’t get a team beat.
Negatives: Struggled his
senior year despite running game to fall back on … Not huge.
22.
Todd Boeckman, Ohio
State 6-4, 230
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 21
Post-Combine Skinny: Wasn't Invited To The Combine
Positives:
Excellent size and good accuracy with time … Handled himself well with
Terrelle Pryor situation.
Negatives: A sitting duck at times against fast defenses … Needs
work on throwing motion.
23.
David Johnson, Tulsa 6-2, 220
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 23
Post-Combine Skinny: Wasn't Invited To The Combine
Positives: Tremendously accurate and efficient … Not a big arm, but
good enough.
Negatives:
One-year starter … Horrible game in C-USA Championship … A system
passer.
24.
Rudy Carpenter, Arizona State 6-2, 218
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 22
Post-Combine Skinny:
Didn't run at the Combine. Far smaller than originally listed. Small
hands.
Positives:
Fiery for good and bad …
Shockingly tough. Was battered at ASU … Good fire, sometimes to a
negative.
Negatives: Held
on to the ball too long at times … Immobile … Not an NFL arm.
25.
Chase Clement, Rice 6-4, 225
Pre-Combine Position Rank: 25
Post-Combine Skinny: Wasn't Invited To The Combine
Positives: Ultra-productive … Very mobile with good size and moxie.

quarterback … Nice arm, but not elite.
