The News Stories You Need To Know ... April 4

* Tim Tebow's spring workouts with QB coach Scot Loeffler are
already paying dividends. He's developed a more efficient throwing
motion and has improved his smoothness and accuracy. The next group
of kids he'll be circumcising in the Philippines are breathing sighs
of relief.
* Pete Carroll is breathing his own sighs of relief. The Trojans'
spring practices have revealed that three perceived weaknesses of
this year's squad - quarterback, linebacker and defensive line -
could actually become strengths of this year's team: "I was kind of
excited talking to the staff about what we're seeing. The
quarterbacks are competing. It's not that we won't have one but
which one will be the starter?... I know it's early in the spring
and the offensive line takes longer to develop, but the defensive
line is having a lot of success against a pretty experienced
offensive line." In a related story, Pete Carroll is excited about
pretty much everything.
* According to a WKOW-TV report, Wisconsin players allegedly used
scholarship funds earmarked for housing and food to purchase mopeds,
and in some cases, cars. You know they're smart kids in Madison,
considering that most kids use their scholarship money for booze
and, uh, ummm, other recreational pursuits.
