Another Player Leaves Tennessee

Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin confirmed the departure of WR Ahmad Paige.

Kingsport, TN – Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin confirmed the departure of WR Ahmad Paige in Kingsport Monday night inside the historic Allandale Mansion.

"We really wish Ahmad the best," Kiffin told the attending news media Monday evening before the Big Orange Caravan stop in the Model City began.

"I really think Ahmad's a great, great kid," said Kiffin. "I really enjoyed being around him, sometimes change is good for people."

Kiffin noted, "I think that he's kind of narrowed down a couple of places closer to where he's from (Louisiana). Hopefully he'll do really well."

"Sometimes it's good to get closer to home just for a change," added the Vols 21st head football coach.

Kiffn said there would be limits to where he would allow him to transfer by noting he would review Paige's school choices. "We'll be very lenient on where he can go," added Kiffin.

The sophomore appeared in 2 games during his career at Tennessee. The Vols 35-3 win over UAB, victory against Mississippi State in 2008. Paige was a top 10 selection in 2007.

The 6'1" 180 lb. recruit from Monroe, LA had selected an A&E major, had red shirted during 2007 under former head coach Philip Fulmer.

Paige is the 6th player to leave the program on his own, and is the 10th player to leave since December. Kiffin dismissed four players for disciplinary reasons.
