Georgia head coach Mark Richt has suspended TE Bruce Figgins and DE Justin Houston.

Houston will serve a two game opening season suspension, while Figgins will miss the Bulldogs first six games in ’09. Richt decided to not suspend another player in Tony Wilson.

The WR is being disqualified on a medical due to an ankle injury suffered in 2008, that has not shown recovery. Richt said that he was, “very disappointed in the poor judgment of these players.”

Figgins, a junior from Columbus appeared in 11 games during 2008. He saw starting action against Auburn and Florida, recorded one pass reception in each game.

Houston from Statesboro, appeared in 13 games; where he recorded 19 total tackles and had 16 quarterback hurries. The 6’3” 259 lb. red shirt sophomore was named Most Improved Defensive End at the conclusion of spring drills.

“They'll have to pay an appropriate price and I¹m confident they will learn an important lesson from their mistake,” noted Richt in the release.
