The News Stories You Need To Know ... May 19

* Urban Meyer has responded to Steve Spurrier's
comments that he may still consider leaving for Notre Dame: "I didn't
know what (Spurrier) was getting at. Here's a quote for you - I am not
going to Notre Dame. There's gotta be something else going on in sports.
Isn't there car racing going on?" Actually, Urban, SEC coaches sniping
at each other is a year-round sport.
* Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez says he's waiting
until he gets all the facts before making a decision about whether to
keep recently arrested tailback Kevin Grady in the program. Curiously,
that's exactly what Wolverine fans are doing about your tenure, Rich.
* After its storied hoops program was rocked by
alleged recruiting violations, it was learned that UConn has only two
full-time employees in its compliance office, one of the smaller numbers
of any BCS school. That's how you know they're not a legitimate
two-sport BCS power just yet: they're only in trouble for one of them.
