The News Stories You Need To Know ... May 20

* Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone said that while
Ryan Nassib will still be listed as his team's starting quarterback,
Greg Paulus will get a fair chance to compete for the job. Considering
that Paulus choosing the Orange generated the most attention for that
program since someone chiseled Nike sneakers on the Ernie Davis statue,
that's probably a smart move.
* LSU, like most colleges in America, is facing severe
budget cuts and is considering weeklong furloughs of its employees to
make ends meet. This furlough program could include head football coach
Les Miles. There's no truth to the rumor that Miles has elected to take
his unpaid furlough the week of the Florida game.
* Speaking of Florida, their talented but relatively
unheralded quarterback Tim Tebow has been named one of the "25 Fittest
Guys in the World" by Men's Fitness. In a related story, Thom Brenneman
just subscribed to Men's Fitness.
