The News Stories You Need To Know ... May 22

* One hundred days is a major landmark for any
presidential administration, but at CFN we're celebrating a different
kind: one hundred days until the return of college football. It's been a
tough year for many, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
* Notre Dame is in talks to return college football to
Yankee Stadium. Not only that, but - well, we'll let Irish AD Jack
Swarbrick tell you: “It would be of great historical significance for us
if it would be Army. We would love that. Some of the most significant
games in the history of college football involve those two schools and
Yankee Stadium.” This story is so awesome that there's nothing even
remotely snarky or cynical about it. (Okay, fine, maybe they can dig up
Grantland Rice, too. Happy now?)
* Everyone's favorite Lane-iac, Lane Kiffin, says that
his tumultuous offseason has been good for the Tennessee program: "Our
fans have had a few tough years down here, taking a beating (from Gator
fans). Losing by 63 points over the last two years didn't give them much
to talk about, so I gave them something to talk about when they're at
the coffee pot or playing golf with their buddies." His logic makes
sense, but it does remain to be seen whether Kiffin will be anything
more than the SEC court jester.
