* Ohio State coach Jim Tressel says he's not sure whether incoming freshman Jaamal Berry will report for summer quarter, after being arrested on felony drug possession charges last week. Come on, Buckeyes, you bunch of amateurs: a single player arrest doesn't even make news in SEC college towns anymore.

* It took him a little while, but Troy Aikman has finally earned his sociology degree from UCLA. He may be the best quarterback to step foot on campus all year.

* Starting in January 2011, the Rose Bowl will be televised on ESPN. It's a good thing that that bowl is so concerned with maintaining its tradition at the expense of a potential plus-one or playoff. Nothing like the timeless memories of a bowl game played in Pasadena, televised on cable, that may or may not pit the Big Ten vs. Pac-10 champs and may or may not be overshadowed every four years by a national title game played at the same stadium on Fox a week later.

* Kansas State legend Bill Snyder said he was approached by former Sunflower State governor Kathleen Sebelius about being her running mate when he retired in 2005. Snyder said he seriously considered it but decided against it after getting advice from the likes of Tom Osborne. Why would big-time coaches want to run for office, anyway? To take a massive pay cut and have a lot less influence in their state?
