2009 Preseason All-Big East Offense

Preseason Offensive Player of the Year
WR Mardy Gilyard, Cincinnati

The 6-1, 190-pound Gilyard could've taken off to the next level, but he came back for one more year and he should be the key, along with QB Tony Pike, to the Bearcat attack. One of the nation’s most explosive all-purpose weapons, he took his game to a new level in 2008 catching 81 balls for 1,276 yards and 11 touchdowns. One of the team’s fastest players, he gets to second gear in a hurry, streaking past defensive backs and bolting through seams in the defense while also serving as a special kickoff returner.

2009 Preseason All-Big East Defense

Preseason Defensive Player of the Year

DE - George Selvie, South Florida

Rather than test the NFL, senior DE Selvie opted to return to Tampa for one more year. The defensive coaches have yet to stop celebrating. One of the fiercest pass rushers in America, he commands constant double-teams and is capable of blowing up the other team’s gameplan. At 6-4 and 250 pounds, he has long arms and the sudden burst off the snap to completely embarrass his man. His numbers did free-fall last year to 43 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. Nagging injuries and a ridiculous amount of attention were factors in the decline in production.
