72. Middle Tennessee
2009 Final CFN Ranking: 45
Dasher, Dasher, Dasher. Dwight Dasher will be the Sun Belt’s signature player and the one who’ll have to take his game to another level to make everyone around him better. There’s enough overall returning talent to hope to finally move past Troy and be the league’s premier team, but the expectations will be sky-high. It’ll be asking for too much to get the ten wins of last year, but there’s no reason the Blue Raiders can’t get to another bowl game as the Sun Belt champion.

78. Troy
2009 Final CFN Ranking: 49
There’s a lot of rebuilding to do on the defensive front seven and replacing Sun Belt Player of the Year, Levi Brown, isn’t going to be easy, but this will still be one of the league’s best teams and one of the favorites for the conference title. The schedule is a bit rough over the second half of the season, but if the passing game can be close to as strong as 2009 and DuJuan Harris and Shawn Southward can do more for the ground game, Troy should be nasty yet again.

98. Arkansas State
2009 Final CFN Ranking: 95
The key will be to settle the quarterback situation right away. Ryan Aplin took over late in the season, but Andre Smith might get a long look. With the departure of star RB Reggie Arnold, Aplin will have to be a top rushing option and should get time to work behind a veteran offensive line. The schedule is a bit easier with most of the tough Sun Belt games at home, but if the offense isn’t better, far better, it won’t matter. The defense won’t be as good and the O will have to pick up the slack.

102. ULM
2009 Final CFN Ranking: 78
If the issues on the offensive line are figured out with three replacements producing right away, this could be one of the sleepers in the Sun Belt race. There are just enough good players on both sides of the ball to hope for another .500 season, but it’s going to take some hole patching and a more productive overall year from QB Trey Revell to get over the hump and into a bowl game.

103. Florida Atlantic
2009 Final CFN Ranking: 83
Last year was supposed to be when the team and the program hit its stride, and it didn’t happen. In 2010, FAU will show if it can rebuild and reload with massive changes needed to be made on offense while the defense has to find players who can do something productive. Jeff Van Camp had a nice second half of the season and should be a nice quarterback to work around, but the running game will be key. The schedule will be an issue with a trip to UAB the only possible non-conference win, if everything breaks right, while trips to Michigan State, USF, and Texas won’t be pretty.

104. Louisiana-Lafayette
2009 Final CFN Ranking: 92
2009 was the year. The team was experienced, talented, and had the opportunities there to get to a bowl game and make a big splash in the Ricky Bustle era. It’s not going to be time to undergo a major rebuilding job, but there’s work to be done on both sides of the ball and it might be even harder to make a dent in conference play with Troy and Florida Atlantic on the road and with the easiest non-conference game at Ohio.

114. FIU
2009 Final CFN Ranking: 105
It’s close to win-or-bust time for Cristobal. The Golden Panthers have to at least look like their getting closer to being a player in the Sun Belt race, but the improvement will have to be done with a slew of young players. With Sun Belt road games at Troy and FAU to go along with non-conference dates against Rutgers, Texas A&M, and Pitt, it’s going to take something special to come up with a winning season.

119. Western Kentucky
2009 Final CFN Ranking: 120
There’s nowhere to go but up, but new head coach Will Taggart will give it a try. He’s an offensive coach who should be good at jumpstarting an attack that had little to no explosion and struggled to put up points. It’s not like the offense was awful when it came to scoring, even though it finished 104th in the nation in scoring offense, but there was only one game with more than 24 points. That should change in 2010.
