"We’re not in a situation where we could afford any kind of attrition" ...Vandy's Bobby Johnson
By:
BE Coleman
When things go wrong for Bobby Johnson, they go wrong. Still reeling from the death of Rajaan Bennett, a top recruit signed in February finds Vanderbilt will be without the services of a top performing lineman in 2010.
Smyrna native James Williams has been dismissed from the program for academic shortcomings says Johnson. The 6-6 325 LB. junior had anchored the right offensive tackle slot before being injured last season against LSU.
“Obviously it’s a very big blow, James was a very good player for us, even though we only had him for just a little bit of time last year,” noted Johnson.
His loss is yet another blow that Johnson and his staff will have to overcome. “We’re not in a situation where we could afford any kind of attrition on the offensive line,” added the Commodores coach. “It’s happened and we have to move forward.”
Williams has two full years of time on his playing card. Johnson says they will do everything they can to help him move onward. “We’ll try to help him go somewhere else. He’ll be able to help another program.”
