It is about football – the king of college sports that turns the wheels.

BE Coleman
The Southeastern Conference distributed $209 million dollars in earnings from the 2009-2010 season to the twelve member institutions.
The payout pushed the SEC further and further ahead of the four other BCS conferences.
The generated revenue was 57.7% more than it was one year ago when the payout was $132.5 million dollars for 2008-2009.
This time the cash cow will see the twelve institutions will carve out an equal share of $17.3 million. Last year the payout was $11.04 million per school.
While basketball did earn significant money, it is about football – the king of college sports that turns the wheels.
SEC Football Broadcast Revenue: $109.5 million, SEC Title Game: $14.5 million, Bowl Games: $26.5 million.
The SEC’s total payout from football was: $150.5 million dollars that is near 3/4th's the total amount of the $209 million in revenue.
SEC Basketball earnings: $30 million from TV, $5 million from the conference tournament and $23.5 million from the NCAA tourney.
