Ole Miss has self reported an NCAA secondary violation that was deemed to be “unintentional” when cornerbacks coach Chris Vaughn posted a comment on a recruits Facebook page.
Jermaine Whitehead, who has given the Rebels a verbal commit for the 2011 signing class for his services as a cornerback had two pictures posted on his Facebook page that had comments attached.
Ole Miss says a Facebook user appearing as Vaughn had posted comments on the page. The posted comments are no longer online for public viewing.
Ole Miss’ Director of Compliance, David Wells says the university is in the process of submitting an incident report to the SEC front office in a release.
Coaching staffs are not permitted to post public messages, but are permitted private contact.
Vaughn joined Houston Nutt’s staff in December of 2007 as cornerback coach and recruiting coordinator. Ole Miss finished last season ranked No. 11 in the NCAA in pass efficiency defense and No. 15 in pass defense.
